Flyctory.com’s Latest Country Picks (17th June 2018)

It is some two months since I posted my latest top country songs – thus, I felt to update you with a handful of country songs.

Bebe Rexha feat. Florida Georgia Line – Meant to Be

I would definitely not call this one one of my current favourites, but you simply have to start with this song when you update on latest country music. It is not that “latest” any more, as the song entered the chart in top position on 16th December and since when did not leave the pole position any more. Florida Georgia Line are one of country music’s finest, while Bebe Rexha is more on the pop music sector.

Catherine McGrath feat. Hunter Hayes – Don’t Let Me Forget

I have to admit: since I happened to see Catherine McGrath for the first time by a funny coincidence at the Country 2 Country 2018 in London (I have a colleague at work with the same name), I have been absolutely addicted by this young Irish London-based country talent. She is just about to release her first album in July and tours in September. I love this magical new duet with Hunter Hayes, who is the youngest-ever male act to top the US Country Charts. Look forward to Catherine’s Album and her tour – hope you like this one:

In Juli 2019, I reviewed Catherine’s debut album Talk of this Town.

Sugarland feat. Taylor Swift – Babe

I love Taylor Swift – and I as a country music fan, I am more than happy that she still here and there participates in country music songs. This one is a very special collaboration: Sugarland, which is the 2017-reunited combo of Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles, can be easily named a “country music legend”. “Babe” is one of her first songs of the 2018 album Bigger.

Dierks Bentley – Women, Amen

As I wrote, the US Billboard Country Charts are not moving too much. This song of Dierks Bentley is in fact also listed in them for 22 weeks for now. There are nevertheless two reasons why this song definitely deserves to be added to my list: first of all, it leads the US Country Airplay charts currently. Secondly, it is a nice introduction to Dierks’ new album, The Mountain, which has been released last week and is just awesome – absolutely worth buying! There is some sort of boredom… or constancy… in the Airplays as well, by the way: none of the Top 7 listed songs currently in in the Billboard Country Airplays for less than 20 weeks.

Midland feat. Jay De La Cueva – Drinkin’ Problem (Brindemos)

This one has a very funny story. Midland had an amazing chartbreaker with their country-good-mood anthem Drinkin’ Problem last year, which also gave them a big boost in their career. One of the band members grew up close to the Spanish border and had the idea to do their song in Spanish as well. Jay de la Cueva helped them to make an amazing adoption out of that – I just cannot stop smiling when I listen to it:

And just in case you do not know the original, you might even smile more at this one:
