Liam St. John (18.6.2026, Cologne)

After I had to limit my concert and sports coverage recently, I was really happy being back with another Sound of Nashville concer.t On 18th June 2026, Liam St. John had a stage of his The Year of the Horse Tour at Cologne’s Freideck. He had already played the same open air stage about a year earlier, at the Sound of Nashville Open Air 2025. On this evening, St. John was supported by a local act, Sidney Bader.

This posting comes with 347 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery.

Die Kantine / Freideck – About The Venue

The open air venue of Cologne’s Die Kantine, the Freideck, had already hosted multiple country music shows in recent year. Apart from the Sound of Nashville Open Air I already mentioned, I for example featured a from there by Dasha in July 2025 there. It is located in the North of Cologne, coming with an open air capacity of some 1,000 people. However, the setup was reduced for that show and there were roughly 150 to 200 people for the show. Die Kantine is close to the A1 motorway and can also be reached by public transport to Wilhelm-Sollmann-Str. (tram 12, 15, and bus).

Liam St. John – About The Artists

Liam St. John is a US American country music artist, who is originally from Spokane in Washington State. He became famous as a contestant of the 2020 edition of The Voice on NBC. In 2025, he released his first full length studio album, Man of the North.

Sid(ney) Bader is a Swiss artist, who is nowadays living in Cologne. He also became famous by a talent show, when he competed at The Voice of Germany in 2022. In April 2025, I featured him in one of my Spotlight interviews.

Liam St. John – The Show

The evening was scheduled to start at 19:00. Some five minutes later, Sid Bader stepped on stage, starting his set with two 2024 releases, Until I Fall and Sitting Wondering. Thereafter, he performed a Johnny Cash original, Folsom Prison Blues. He did have a certain support among the locals, including his fiance, whom he dedicated a so far unreleased song to. The set also featured some newer songs like his recent single release, Hopeless State of Mind. Of course, he also played his The Voice of Germany blind audition song, I Wanne Be Like You. His 40 minute set closed with These Days (for which he also had the suitable merchandise) and Brutally Inclined.

At about 20:10, Liam St. John kicked off his set, which was a bit longer than 90 minutes. The first songs were Eleanor Thornton and Everything I Had. The set featurd a nice range of rather classic and rather new songs by the artist. Thereby, Liam impressed with some basic knowledge of German. including cheering up the Cologne people with a statement about the regional rival city, F*ck Düsseldorf. Towards the end of the show, Liam also did a solo set. The encore consisted of Man of the North and Dipped in Bleach.

Liam St. John – My View

I love the atmosphere of the Freideck in Cologne. It is a cozy, intimate open air venue. Sid Bader and Liam St. John felt like a really nice lineup for a (very) warm summer evening in Cologne. Thus, I felt a bit of sad that so few people finally made it to the venue. Both artists gave a nice and energetic performance – and the fans paid it back to them. Hopefully, they will bring some friends next time.
