Corey Kent (14th May 2026, Cologne)

After quite a bit of absence from the concert photography pit, it was time for another Sound of Nashville show in my hometown Cologne on 14th May 2026. At his only show in Germany, Corey Kent played at Die Kantine. The support act was a fan favorite of the German country music scene: Austin Jenckes was about to warm up the crowds for the show. Here is my concert report.

This posting comes with 289 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery.

Die Kantine – About The Venue

Die Kantine (“The canteen”) is a 900 people capacity venue in the North of Cologne. Apart from the major venue, it comes with the smaller Yuca Club, where I saw Kelsey Waldon in January 2026, and the open air Freideck, home of the Sound of Nashville Open Air. It is located in a commercial area not too far from the A1 motorway. By public transport, there are two tram line connections. Both, lines 12 and 15, stop at Wilhelm-Sollmann-Str., which is a some five minutes walk away.

Corey Kent – About The Artists

Corey Kent is a 31 year old country music and country rock artist from Bixby, Oklahoma, USA. Already at the age of 11, he was part of a touring Western Swing group. After the band broke up, he moved to Nashville at the age of 17. In 2016, he released his debut album Long Way. Overall, there are four Corey Kent studio albums, the most recent being Black Bandana (2024). Two Corey Kent songs, Wild As Her (2022) and This Heart (2024), made it to the Top 3 of the US Country Airplay Charts.

Austin Jenckes is a country and country-blues artist, who is originally from Washington State. He had his first major appearance in the USA, when he took part in the 2013 season of The Voice. He got eliminated in the Live Top 10 / sixth round. The year before, he moved to Nashville. I featured multiple Austin Jenckes shows, including one in May 2023 in Cologne and one in September 2019 in Amsterdam.

Corey Kent – The Show

Austin Jenckes was on stage in time at 19:00. He played a mixture of older and newer songs. His second track, for example, was his 2025 single Daddies + Daughters. However, there were also some covers, like his version of Lee Brice’s American Nights. Before the song, he stated with a smile that his cover version is obviously the best. Cologne felt to love Austin (or were still in love) from the very first moments. Later, he told about his recent support act gigs in Germany for Christopher Cross. The brief tour is his fifth appearance in Germany, and he stated Germany is Badass. Right thereafter, he played one of his most famous ones, Fat Kid. The concert got more bluesish with Never Left Memphis. At the final song, Higher Hopes, Cologne sang along with Austin and the this lovely 31 minute set just felt so short.

Corey Kent kicked off his some 80 minute performance at 20:00. He started with two songs of his 2021 album 21Highways and Gold. The next one was How You Know You Made It, released in 2023. After I left the photo pit, the lights got stronger, there was less fog and also the energy at Die Kantine felt to steadily increase. Rocky Mountain Low was the first 2026 song in the setlist and Cologne clapped and cheered with the artist. With Damn Good Country Song, he boosted the energy again. He was also asking for Cologne’s FIFA World Cup preferences – and, of course, the fans replied with Deutschland, Deutschland cheers. After a crew member got a Happy Birthday chant on his special day, the country music party was at its peak. The people also loved a new song, Motorbike, which was already quite at the end of the set. When Corey played Wannabe, the show was already close to an end. If this first show in Germany was some sort of “test” for Corey to come back, my home country seemed to have passed that exercise.

Corey Kent – My View

Honestly, I am not too much into the music by Corey Kent. Cologne was enthusiastic about his show – and they were not wrong. Here and there, it felt a bit like Nashville mainstream to me, but Corey felt very energetic and proud to have such a supportive debut crowd in Germany. To me, it was just amazing to see Austin Jenckes on stage again. Cologne loved his performance – and so did I. This lead to a very special Sound of Nashville evening in Cologne.
