Looking back to… Song Suffragettes (Nashville, 6th April 2026)

Bad luck turning into good luck: the closure of Keflavik Airport (KEF) and a corresponding flight rebooking opened the opportunity to integrate The Listening Room Cafe to my March/April 2026 trip. The venue is my favorite live music spot in Nashville. I was even more excited as Monday, 6th April 2026, featured one of the classic and periodic programs, the Song Suffragettes. The regular concert series aims to promote female country musicians. On that day, the show even featured a German artist. Here is a another one of my Looking back to… slightly stripped down concert reports.

The Listening Room Cafe – Location & Tickets

The Listening Room is my favorite music venue in Nashville. It is located a short walk South from Downtown Nashville at 4th Ave. The venue is a mixture of a music stage and a restaurant. If you come by car, it offers valet parking (15 USD).

Ticket for the event were 15 USD each. However, including a mysterious processing fee of 10 USD and tax, two tickets summed up to 43.90 USD. On top of that, there is a minimum food / beverage order of 15 USD per person. Seats cannot be reserved, they are assigned at the check in before the concert. The Song Suffragettes are held at The Listening Room Cafe every Monday morning. It is promoting female artists, especially in order to help them find record deals or other organizational support.

Song Suffragettes – The Artists

Five artists were on stage of The Listening Room cafe. My major focus was on Scarlett Egan. The German singer-songwriter is originally from Heidelberg, but lives in Nashville since more than a decade.

A very interesting artist was Kyleigh. She is an R&B artist, who originally performed as Ca$hK.

Dani Stacy is a singer-songwriter, who is originally from California. She is combining country music with some R&B influences.

Maura Streppa is a Chicago-origin artist, who is also having a North Carolina background. She is a country and country rock artist.

Marla Morris is originally from New England. Like all other artists, she is nowadays based in Nashville. She is releasing songs since the late 2010’s.

On top of that, there was Mia Morris. She is some sort of part of “furniture” of the Song Suffragettes, typically attending any show. She is majorly supporting the artists with backing percussion and instruments. She joined the round for the final round only. She is typically doing alt-pop and became famous as a semifinalist of the 2022 season of America’s Got Talent.

Impressions of the 6th April 2026 Song Suffragettes Show

The songwriters round had three songs each per artist. it started from the left of the audience with Kyleigh, who had her first appearance at this concert series. She brought a guitar player with her. Having a different genre in a Nashville round was a fine touch. She majorly presented songs from her November 2025 debut EP Almost Everything and stroke with an impressing voice. The following artist was Dani Stacy. She did a really nice as well. I liked her rather traditional style with a very thoughtful touch.

Of course, my focus was on Scarlett Egan. She stated that studios are so expansive that she is releasing her new song Whole Damn Package just as a voice memo recording from her mobile. With another of her songs, America, she greeted close fans of her who followed the show on the live stream. Maura Streppa‘s set was also a really nice one, featuring songs from her EP The Skinnier Tapes and other listens. On the very right of the audience – and thus in the final position -, Marla Morris completed each set of songs. She also had a really nice presentation of her songs. My love was obviously on the German artist in the middle of the stage.

In the third set, Mia Morris underlined her musical excellence. Together with an electric guitar player, she showed an impressing performance. I also loved the way she “felt” the songs of the other artists, joining in and thus playing a fundamental role for an amazing night at The Listening Room Cafe. Finally, all artists played a song together before the audience had to clear the venue for the next shift at the busy venue.
