Country Music Picks (New Songs) August 2024

I recently revamped the Country Music Picks featuring new releases of July 2024, this is the second time, I look back to a month of country music with you. Here are some songs of August 2024, which just haven’t made it in any playlist or other kind of mentioning.

New Songs of the Week of 2nd August 2024

There were quite a lot of interesting new releases on 2nd August 2024. Thus, the list of that week is rather long.

Onoleigh – Higher Standards

The first song in my August release list is Onoleigh, an artist from Champaign in Illinois. She started releasing songs with her Ghost Stories in 2021. I really loved her new release, Higher Standards, her eighth single release overall.

Alex Lambert – She Ain’t Texas

Alex Lambert is one of the many US-American artists, who became famous in TV talent shows. The 2010 American Idol finalist has a lovely, warm and characteristic voice, which beautifully suits this ballad. Nice country tunes from a Texas-origin artist.

Alli Walker – Nashville

Alli Walker already had some appearance on German stages. The Canadian artist, who is originally from Prince Edward Island, also works as a model. However, when you listen to her pop-ish song Nashville, you rather feel the beauty of her song. And some decent hip hop vibes.

Angie K – Death of Me

The early August 2024 song release by Angie K has been Death of Me. A nice guitar-rock track. Her slightly raspy voice adds a lovely touch to the listen.

Mackenzie Carpenter – Boots On

Mackenzie Carpenter is a Georgia-origin who has been featured in Flyctory.com playlists a couple of times. This song is an uplifting, very nice to listen to country-pop track. I really like it.

Troy Cartwright – One That You Want

Born in Dallas, Troy Cartwright is one of the many country music artists, who decided to move to Nashville to boost their career. Songs like Only That You Want underline that this singer-songwriter is definitely underrated. Mainstream tunes, but Troy adds a special touch to them.

Orville Peck feat. Mickey Guyton – Where Are We Now?

On 2nd August 2024, Oriville Peck released his Stampede album. I just did not have the capacity to cover this release, which solely features songs with guest musicans. There are Willie Nelson, Elton John and Kylie Minogue on the album – but I went for the song recorded with Mickey Guyton.

Shayna Gee – Young

Young by Shayna Gee comes with typical country music ingredients, but does not feel outdated at all. It’s too late to die young does not sound that optimistic, but the song by the California country and classic rock artist is a lot of fun listening to.

LANCO – You’ll Always Be

A new song by LANCO? That almost feels to guarantee some great tunes. The song You’ll always Be is surprisingly kitschy, but the Nashville-origin band also do the emotional tracks in style.

New Songs of the Week of 9th August 2024

Here is my song selection as of the week of 9th August 2024.

Madeline Merlo feat. Dustin Lynch – Broken Heart Thing

The first song on my list as of 9th August 2024 is a beautiful collaboration between Madeline Merlo and Dustin Lynch. Not a ballad, but a very emotional listen, which is a beautiful, traditional duet with many dual-vocal parts.

Julia DiGrazia – Gambler

Julia DiGrazia is a very interesting artist. Her website calls her a traditionally trained improvisational fiddler. And even though the violin does not play a strong role in Gambler (brass sounds are much more dominant), the song has a very special and energetic touch. I just had to share it.

Callista Clark feat. Scotty McCreery – Gettin’ Old

The third song of the second week of my Country Picks coverage is another very interesting collaboration. Young country star Callista Clark meets the long-time-established Scotty McCreery for this track. The result is a remarkable country music ballad.

Kassi Ashton – The Straw

The Straw is a song which Kassi Ashton has performed for many years in her life shows. Now she is also sharing the track with her fans on streaming platforms.

Mitchell Tenpenny feat. Underoath – Demon or Ghost

The song starts like a typical energetic country rocker – but Mitchell Tenpenny’s song has a special feature. Underoath is a Christian metalcore band. Untypical sound in the country music scene. But I feel it is a funny touch.

Ian Munsick – Caroline

In the second week of August, Ian Munsick in fact released two songs. Apart from Caroline, he also shared Good Dogs & Sad Songs. I liked this one better.

New Songs of the Week of 16th August 2024

In the week of 16th August 2024, I saw three Jessica Lynn concerts, two as an “ordinary” spectator and the Muxx.tv show in Erftstadt near Cologne. Quite a lot of new releases and interesting albums – thus, my list is rather long this week

Bella White – Luxury Liner

Luxury Liner was my favorite song of Bella White’s Five For Silver album, which she released in that week. The song – and the album – is a treat for country music listeners who rather like the traditional sound. However, this song even feels a bit of jazzy.

Charly Reynolds – Visiting Hours

Over 100k followers on Instagram only – Charly Reynolds can indeed rely on a strong fan base. Songs like this beautiful ballad will definitely not decrease her support. A beautiful choice for your romantic country music playlist.

Muscadine Bloodline – Airport & McGregor

Okay, if there is a song somehow containing an airport, my support is almost certain… Just kidding, the boys from Alabama are just doing a beautiful and special song here. So they deserve being in my list of August 2024 releases.

A Thousand Horses – Goin’ Down

Goin’ Down has been my song pick from the album The Outside, which A Thousand Horses released in the respective week. The song starts slowly, but then creates some really nice, catchy vibes. I really like it.

Crag Campbell – Outta My Head

Outta My Head has been a 16th August 2024 single release by Craig Campbell. A really nice song by the Georgia-origin artist.

Walker Hayes – Ball Player

I haven’t featured Walker Hayes for a while. My review of his Country Stuff EP is dated as of June 2021. He still has this special country-pop style with a hop-hop flavor. I feel it really works out nicely in Ball Player.

Kyle McKearney – Wedding Day

Kyle McKearney is taking you to a Wedding Day in August 2024. The alternative country artist is having a very special, groovy touch in this song. Really nice listen from British Columbia in Canada.

Renee Blair – Last Night’s Lipstick

Last Night’s Lipstick by Renee Blair has been one of these songs which made me smile from the very first moment I listened to it. A modern country-pop sound with cool rock attitude. And the story is fun as well. Well done!

Ward Thomas – Patience

The British female country duo is back with a new track. Patience is quite a typical Ward Thomas song – which also means it is melodic and simply good listen.

New Songs of the Week of 23rd August 2024

Due to the Sound of Nashville Open Air in Cologne, quite a lot of songs dropped into this song selection. Hope you like them.

Tori Rose – Your Loss

Tori Rose released her rocking Your Loss on 23rd August 2024. It is only the second release by the Greater Pittsburgh area artist. It sounds so good to me. Keep my fingers crossed for this young lady.

Jillian Cardarelli – American Blue

I really enjoy Jillian Cardarelli and her music. Thus, I was really happy to run into a new single release by the charismatic female country artist, who is originally from Massachusetts. Would love to welcome her on German stages one day.

David J – Deserve You

Deserve You by David J is a rather modern country song. What did I do to deserve you is the New York State artist asking in this song. I am sure the young lady is flattered.

Jelly Roll – Get By

I guess I don’t have to say too much about Jelly Roll. The Nashville-born artist is something like the hottest sh*t (sorry, Jelly!) in the country music scene currently. And he is adding a very new and different flavor to the genre. You have to appreciate him for that.

Miranda Lambert – No Man’s Land

From an artist who might become a country music legend to one, who is already one. Miranda Lambert shared her new song on 21st August 2024. No Man’s Land is a fine and melodic tune. I love this kind of harmony.

Cody Bradley – Sober Me’s Problem

Georgia is one of these country music talent epicenters of the United States. Cody Bradley is one of the artists coming from there. Nice release on that week!

Nate Smith – Fix What You Didn’t Break

38 year Californian country artist Nate Smith released this song. A good listen with a mainstream touch, which simply stays in your mind – especially due to the great chorus.

Brandt Carmichael – Neon Whiskey

Brandt Carrmichel released this powerful and somehow angry country rock song on 23rd August 2024. The Indiana artist is definitely on the rise. Maybe this nomination gives a small, additional push.

Sam Donald – 80 Proof

The last 23rd August 2024 song I feature in here is 80 Proof by Sam Donald. Donald is an artist from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His career got quite a push in early 2024, when some of his songs became viral on TikTok. Definitely a good listen.

New Songs of the Week of 30th August 2024

The 30th August 2024 Country Music Playlist selection still came with some second day picks of the Sound of Nashville Open Air. On the Flyctory.com side, I had a lot of sports coverage with athletics and floorball. There were not too many new songs I went for, thou.

Landon Parker – Told Me the Rest

The first song I share with of as of the week of 30th August 2024 is Told Me the Rest by Landon Parker. The North Carolina artist is releasing music since 2022. Really catchy, a bit of mainstream-alike sound. I really like it.

Russell Dickerson – Those Nights, These Days

In that week, Russell Dickerson released his Bones The EP. The set of songs simply did not find a slot in my reviews – but I definitely felt to share this song with you.

Taylor Austin Dye – Almost Oklahoma

I close this set of songs with Taylor Austin Dye. With over 160k followers on Instagram only, she is definitely some sort of social media star already. This beautiful, emotional track definitely deserves some attention.

Country Music Picks – The Playlist

I will also present the new songs of a month in a new, dedicated playlist. The playlist will be completely flushed and reset with the next Country Music Picks posting.
