Flyctory.com Pros

  • Nice country pop album
  • Good range of different topics

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Some similarities, close to commercial mainstream music

I absolutely admire Julia Cole and her work. She is very frequently releasing music in the country and country pop sphere. I also enjoyed the two shows I featured of her, in November 2019 in Zurich and at the 2026 C2C in Berlin. On 22nd May 2026, the US American artist released her third studio album, Love You To Death. Here is my review.

Julia Cole – About the Artist

Julia Cole is an independent female country artist from Texas. She was born in the 200,000 people city Klein on 3rd September 1993. In high school years, she was also a promising sportsperson in athletics. Julia started releasing music in 2018. In 2020, I reviewed her debut EP Honey Child. In 2021, she released her first, self-titled album. Two years later, she added Country Sugar. Both albums are also available in an acoustic version.

Julia Cole – Love You To Death – Track by Track

The fourteen song album lasts 41 minutes.

1. Love You To Death

Julia Cole kicks off her 2026 album with its title track. Love You To Death is a rhythmic country-pop song with a nice speed and drive. Especially the chorus has a nice touch. A very uplifting listen.

Baby you’re in deep, if it’s up to me
We’ll be written in stone until our bones are 6 feet
But if you lie, you cheat, you’ll see
How crazy ’bout you I can get
Swear on my life boy I’ll love you to death

2. Diamondback

The following three songs have been single releases before the album. The set starts with Diamondback. A melodic modern mainstream country song. It does have a nice dynamic, but overall feels a bit hidden behind other listens of the album.

3. Day Late & A Buck Short

Almost 42 million listens on Spotify only – there is hardly any doubt that Day Late & A Buck Short has been the core track of the album promotion campaign. The fast, rocking track is a powerful blast. To me, the large number of people who listened to this one simply don’t lie – this one is a really energetic experience.

4. At My Wedding

She’s gonna be at my wedding – Julia Cole shared these tunes in March 2026. I really like the track, even though the streaming response was rather on the limited side. By the way, at the end of the chorus she states, Boy I still don’t know about you. If you are really nice, you might still make it on the guest list for this event.

5. Treat Me Like Dirt

The fifth song deals with a toxic relationship. Julia Cole put it into a rather mid-tempo song, which feels very characteristic for her musical work. While it might have less surprising elements in stock on the melodic side, it comes with nice lyrics.

Treat me like dirt cause you treat dirt like gold
Keep me all over you from your head to your steel toes
I wanna be the place you call home
And lay down some roots, watch that family tree grow
Rain or shine, boy show up, put in the work
Give it your life, ’cause you know what it’s worth
I know it sounds crazy but baby
Treat me like dirt

6. Big Picture

The very mainstream-alike sound of Julia Cole is even reflected in the duration of the songs on Love You To Death. Like Big Picture, many songs are quite close to the three minute mark. In this song, Julia Cole feels a little more traditional. The howling steel guitar is more present. Nonetheless, it is overall a modern Nashville-style country song.

7. Daddy Daughter Dance

You bought my first guitar, and taught me how to bait a hook
Got ice cream after every game, even when I didn’t play good
You caught me lying once and made damn sure I learned my lesson
But you held me when I cried and told me all ’bout doggie heaven

In this song, Julia Cole praises the beauty of a father’s love and the daddy daughter dance. A rather calm song, which is clearly focusing on her voice most of the time. The audience loved it – the song comes with eight million Spotify streams. And this very personal track is so nice and personal, I definitely would not dare to disagree to this public vote.

8. What It Takes

What It Takes is about the choices and chances life is giving you. Early in the song, she states I’m on my way to who God wants me to be, that bigger plan ain’t in my hands, The song is also thankful what she has achieved so. For example, she later tells I’m making friends that feel more like family. A really nice one, which feels like a nice, personal song for smaller stages, spreading typical singer-songwriter vibes.

9. What Could Go Wrong

Despite both being not as successful as the two core tracks of the campaign, the following two songs have already been released as singles as well. The song feels rhythmic and zesty. It is a somehow gentle listen, which rather feels like an airplay song than a concert setlist choice.

10. Hunting Boots

Western-style sounds, a dramatic plot – Hunting Boots adds a lot of character to the album.. Julia Cole slightly leans towards country rock. I feel that this touch suits her as an artist really well. Nice!

11. Give & Take

Give & Take is dominated by its voluminous chorus. Overall, the eleventh song on Love You To Death comes with a very nice and catching melody. Again, you cannot deny the mainstream Nashville flavor, but it is a really enjoyable.

12. Gunshy

If you would state I’m just a little gun-shy in Europe, most of the listeners would definitely agree. But what about the North American country music scene? The twelfth song of this record even has a bit of a ballad touch. A fine and gentle listen.

I pulled away, when you leaned in
Scared I might break if I fall again
I wanna climb back in the saddle, and stop running from my past
Find a rope that don’t unravel, finally hold something that lasts
Every love I’ve locked ‘n loaded, somehow always missed the mark
If you walked a mile in my boots, you’d know why I guard my heart
If I’m slow to pull the trigger, you ain’t the reason why
I want you in the picture, but I’m just a little gun-shy

13. Heaven On A Sunday

Heaven On A Sunday, the last new song on the album, has a nicely different touch. It strikes with a fine guitar theme and a catching groove. Thus, the track is striking in a very positive sense. The tempo of this one is rather slow, but overall, it feels like a perfect fit. I like it.

14. Spicy

The route towards Love You To Death has indeed been a long one. The chucker-out Spicy has in fact been released in June… 2024. The rocking country song feels like a really nice farewell from this record.

Julia Cole – Love You To Death – My View

I really like Julia Cole and pay my fullest respect to all the effort she puts into her music career. Thus, I also really enjoyed Love You To Death. However, I sometimes wish she would also divert from her comfort zone a bit more. The songs are very close to mainstream radio tracks. This might boost your airplay and streams, but does not strengthen your profile. The album is a good one – but it would have needed this little extra to be even better.

Favorite Song: Heaven on a Sunday
