After posting a list of current country music favourites in June, here is another update on some recent music or stuff which I just currently feel is worth listening to. Florida Georgia Line is still on top of the Billboard Country Charts, by the way. “Meant to be” feat. Bebe Rexha is by the way the longest-ever Billboard Country Chart No. 1 streak by a female artist. Other charts like the iTunes Country Charts US or the Billboard Country Airplay Charts do not list that song any more at all.
Vic Allen – Quit
I am starting with an European country music act this time again. Vic Allen is a Bristol-based young country talent, who released her EP “Between the Lines” early this year. I somehow happened got into her music on Instagram and loved it – unfortunately, there is no media available on her recent single “Blinded”; but “Quit” is definitely worth listening!
Morgan Evans – Kiss Somebody
“Kiss somebody” is in the radio charts for 41 weeks now (Morgan also performed this song at the Country 2 Country in March 2018 in London), but it now seems to get another boost. It might be the chance for Morgan to get some additional attention in the music scene and seen more independent of his wife Kelsea Ballerini. Great song, absolutely worth listening.
Luke Bryan – Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset
It feels like good old Luke delivered the summer country hit of the season (again?) – but this also illustrates some stagnation in the US Country music scene: in fact, this song has been released last year already as part of the What makes you country album, but especially as the US market is very single-driven, it just feels like a new one. The big names also seem to be able to generate quite a lot of airtime and the rotations are short (songs might be played again after 90 minutes or two hours). Thus, it is hard for less in focus bands to bring up their music. Nevertheless, Luke definitely did deliver a nice song here, hope you like it!
Florida Georgia Line – Simple
In the airplays, SImple is Florida Georgia Line’s top hit at the moment. Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard really seem to deliver solid chartbreakers, this single is just another one.
Jason Aldean feat. Miranda Lambert – Drowns the Whiskey
Two of the “big ones”, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert, currently top the radio charts in country music with their duet. I like both artists, though I just prefer selected Miranda’s songs. This one is a nice one definitely.
Mitchell Tenpenny – Drunk me
Mitchell Tenpenny is one of those several Nashville-based artist, who deliver good music, but just do not seem to be able to take the next step. “Drunk me” could be this step for Mitchell now, as he receives quite some radio appearance with his latest single. I love it – nice to hear some other artists as well.
