While I am typically more of a Hilton Hotels person, I chose a Marriott Group hotel for my stay in Indianapolis, when I was visiting the Weird Al Yankovic show there. The location to the venue and the city center attraction was just good and the price was most competitive. I was curious how my stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Downtown will be like – and it even started with a surprise.
Fairfield Inn Indianapolis – Location
The hotel is located on the Western edge of city center, right across the road of the Indiana State Museum and the Eiteljorg Museum. The Victory Field, home of the baseball team Indians, as well as the White River State Park, where the concert took place, is also in very short walking distance. The complex features four hotels. Apart from the Fairfield Inn, there are three more Marriott ones, a JW Marriott, a SpringHill Suites and a Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
The hotels feature restaurants as well. For example, there is a T.G.I. Fridays in front of the Fairfield Inn. However, the city center is really close, so that you have a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops outside the hotel complex. The hotels feature a common parking garage, which was roughly 35 USD per night.
Fairfield Inn Indianapolis – Rooms
I originally reserved a King Room, prepaid, which was 148 USD including breakfast. Luckily, I have been selected as the Guest Of The Day, which included Premium Internet and a room upgrade. I have been assigned to a King Room with City View. The room was quite compact, but nice in design. It could have been a struggle to be in the room with more luggage definitely. The room had all helpful amenities including a microwave oven.
The bathroom was very nice as well. Like the room, it was clean, amenities were provided.
City View? Yeah, I have to share the view from the hotel with you definitely – a lovely look over the two museums and the Indiana State faciltiies.
Fairfield Inn Indianapolis – Breakfast / Food
As it has been quite a while since I had my last stay at a Fairfield Inn, I did not know (or: remember) anything about their breakfast performance. The more I was positively surprised. It definitely beats its peers like the Hampton Inn chain. A nice selection of continental items, some hot dishes – and they even had the waffles I like so much for breakfast!
Fairfield Inn Indianapolis – Service
There is no hotel pool but the gym looked quite nice. One thing I really liked was that they had banana and apples there in addition to the water dispensers.
The staff was really nice. I had a very friendly welcome by Yvonne (who insisted that I should remenber her name…), maybe also due to being the Guest of the Day. I cannot judge on the ordinary WiFi has I had the premium one, which was of course above hotel average. I mentioned the garage, which is linking all hotels already above – it is a bit difficult to find the entrance to it, though (it is located at the rear of the Fairfield Inn building).
Fairfield Inn Indianapolis – My View
Good job, Fairfield Inn & Suites Indianapolis Downtown! I had a really good time during my first stay in Indianapolis. Good stuff, nice view of the room (though very compact), good breakfast performance and nice location. Overall, a very good value for money, which I assign the Top Pick! award to. On the negative side, apart from the room side, are only the parking fees – which may be much much reasonable if you are American compared to my German feeling for what would be “reasonable”.
