INNSIDE by Melia Palma Center
145 EUR incl. breakfast
Flyctory.com Pros
- Very nice location
- Great staff
- Beautiful rooftop pool and spa area
Flyctory.com Cons
- Room too small and a bit of "neutral" design
- Palma prices are quite high
Trying to get (a bit) back to normal. The Covid-19 regulations at that time allowed me to have a (relatively) safe to Mallorca in late April 2021. I spent one night at the INNSIDE by Melia Palma Center. I so far did not have a really perfect stay with Melia Hotels – but there are some more stays planned for 2021 already, so I am optimistic. Maybe already making it in the capital of the Balearic Islands? Here is my review.

INNSIDE Palma Center – Location
The hotel is located North of the city center, close to the Avinguda del Comte de Sallent, some sort of ring road around the central area. There is a parking garage a block away, but in general I guess that the hotel is better to be reached by bus, taxi (what I did) or train / metro. The metro and rail station Estacio Intermodal is just a short walk away, the Ferrocaril de Soller is even a bit closer to the hotel. At low traffic, the taxi ride from the hotel to PMI Airport was some 15 minutes at most.
The hotel is not absolutely central, but still in nice walking distance to central sites. The walk from Palma Cathedral to the hotel was 15 to 20 minutes. There are a couple of bars and restaurants around. The hotel does have an own restaurant / bar, but cooperated with a local restaurant for delivery during Covid-19 measures. For touristic shopping reasons, you can also easily walk to a El Corte Ingles local department store with a major supermarket.
INNSIDE Palma Center – Atmosphere
The hotel is a nice city hotel. The reception and bar area is very nice. A nice eye-catcher is the patio, which you can see when you use the elevator. Overall, the hotel had a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

INNSIDE Palma Center – Room
I booked an INNSIDE Premium Extra Room, which was (members rate) 145 EUR including breakfast. The hotel upgraded me to a balcony room. The room had a bit of a functional design to me. The room size was not overwhelmingly large – but finally, this is of course a city hotel. I liked the workdesk, which also featured a sufficient number of power plugs. A very cool idea is to have an USB plug and a USB cable at one side of the bed (on both sides would be even better… 🙂 ). The minibar was filled with drinks of my choice and included in the price, which was really nice.

The hotel is located in central Palma, the building is not overwhelmingly tall. Thus, the balcony was a nice add-on, but you should not expect the chance to see the Cathedral or the sea. The balcony door had a minor defect and could not be closed – which I felt to be annoying, as I feel you could climb on my balcony from the neighboring one.

The bathroom with bathtub and shower has been a really nice place. Amenities were provided and there was a bidet next to the toilet. The room was spotlessly clean.

INNSIDE Palma Center – Breakfast / Food
Even though the view from there is still limited, I loved to have breakfast at the hotel’s rooftop bar / restaurant. They could surround the terrace with plastic blankets, so that rain and wind did not have any impact to the breakfast. You had buffet breakfast at own service, gloves needed to be used as hygienic measure. The breakfast was a really great start of the day.

INNSIDE Palma Center – Services
The hotel has beautiful recreation facilities. Next to the rooftop, there is a small pool – I guess you can also relax in the sun next to it. Unfortunately, I could not explore that properly due to massive rain the morning. The hotel also drives a spa and gym. I felt so annoyed that I did not have bathing clothes with me – spa access would have been 5 Euro per day, but the place looked lovely. I just took pictures from outside, as well as I did of the small (but fine looking gym) next to it on basement level to avoid to cause cleaning. You could also book spa treatments.

The staff of the hotel was very nice and helpful. They were very good in English. Despite the hotel just had recently re-opened after the Covid-19 break, the processes felt to run quite well. The WiFi worked fine. As in most hotels I stayed in during 2020 and 2021, the hotel guide has been replaced by a QR code. Unfortunately that code (including the code for room service) has not been present in the room, but at the reception area only.
INNSIDE by Melia Palma Center – My View
Let’s start with something negative: the price for my stay was quite high. 145 Euro for one night at that room feels too high, regardless of the location. But that’s rather no critics to the hotel – central Palma prices are not that bargain-alike. Apart from that, I really enjoyed my stay at the INNSIDE by Melia Palma Center. Especially if you want to take the train to Soller or meet a scooter to explore some parts of the island, this is a quite cool location.
