Reporting from the Faroe Islands vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina IHF Handball World Cup Qualifier in May 2026 required me having a night in Torshavn. As the typical stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands was too pricey, I went for one of the sponsors of the Faroese Handball National Team. Hotel Djurhuus is a centrally located hotel in the capital. Here is my review.

Hotel Djurhuus – Location

Hotel Djurhuus is located right East of the center of Torshavn. It is a short walk to the beach and to the harbor, where you can get ferries to Iceland and Denmark, but also to other Faroese islands. The walking distance to central sights like Skansin the Old Town is about 10 minutes.

Skansin bus stop is just a few steps away and is served by bus line 2. The hotel has an own parking lot. However, this one may not be sufficient in regards of capacity. On the opposite side of the street, there is a major public parking lot, which is gravel parking, but offers lovely views, including the islands of Nolsoy. Both options do not require a parking fee.

Hotel Djurhuus – Room

I had one night in a single room at Hotel Djurhuus, from Saturday to Sunday in May 2026. The flexible rate, including breakfast, was 1,140 DKK (Danish Krona), which is roughly 155 EUR. The room was compact, but had all you need for a city stay. A bit on the unfortunate side was that the desk was fully taken by the tea/coffee making machines, but there is a cupboard I could put that on. If you travel with a lot of luggage, the room layout may be challenging, though.

The bathroom is on the condensed side as well. However, even with my body size, it was absolutely fine using it. The space for your own toiletries is limited, though. Amenities are provided. The whole hotel, including the room, felt well maintained and cleaned, so that it left a very welcoming impression.

Hotel Djurhuus – Breakfast

The breakfast area next to the reception is rather large. I had a really good start of the day, before I headed back to Faroe Islands Airport (FAE). Hotel Djurhuus offers a nice range of warm and cold dishes, including healthy options. Thus, even if you need to increase your energy before a hike or another excursion, it is a good start of the day.

Hotel Djurhuus – Service

The staff at the hotel was very nice and friendly. WiFi is complimentary and worked very well, which I appreciated. On the upper level, the hotel offers a lovely lounge area (free to use, not limited to certain rooms), which having a library and a lovely view of Nolsoy. There are signs to a hotel gym, but I just did not find it.

Hotel Djurhuus – My View

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Djurhuus. The people are friendly, the location is very handy and the airport is about a 30 minute drive away. The breakfast and the lounge are definitely on the plus side, the rooms are rather basic. Overall, the value for money is good.
