Apart from staying in the lovely Hilton Kuala Lumpur, I checked out some more hotels during my February 2024 trip to Malaysia. As I aimed to fly with Firefly Airlines from Subang Airport (SBZ), I was aiming for a hotel closer to Kuala Lumpur’s former main airport. As I prefer staying in Hilton Hotels, I had one night at the Hilton Petaling Jaya in the capital city. Here is my experience.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – Location

The area around the Hilton Petaling Jaya is a mixture of commercial and residential. There are several other hotels in the area, as well as office and financial operation buildings. Close to the hotel, there are a couple of stores including a small supermarket and some restaurants.

If you arrive by car, the hotel is conveniently located close to a highway. I took a shuttle from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which was a one hour drive. Grab and similar services are very cheap in Malaysia. If you want to use public transport, there is an MRT station, Taman Jaya (red monorail line / Kelana Jaya Line), in close walking distance.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – Room

I had one night in the hotel in February 2024, Sunday to Monday. I booked a King Guestroom, but have been upgraded to an Executive one, due to my Hilton Honors Diamond. The status also guaranteed complimentary breakfast. The sem-flex rate was 416 MYR, just 81 Euro. The room had a really nice size and came with all necessary amenities. I especially liked the large work desk and that there were universal power outlets in the room, which was very handy. You also had a lot of space at my room at the Hilton Petaling Jaya.

The shower bathroom was slightly compact, but overall nice in size. Like the whole room, housekeeping was excellent and the room was very clean. Regarding the area the hotel is located in, I also liked the view from the place.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – Executive Lounge

My status at Hilton granted me access to the executive lounge. Originally, the lounge is located on the top floor (23rd floor) of one wing of the building. However, there was maintenance work in this part of the building. Therefor, the hotel installed a replacement lounge in a restaurant room on the ground floor. The atmosphere in there was very relaxed. I visited the “happy hour” after my arrival. The food there was really great and ranged from some warm snacks to fruit, different sandwiches and a lovely selection of cakes and desserts. In line with other places in Malaysia, alcoholic drinks are served by demand.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – Breakfast

I opted to use the normal buffet restaurant for breakfast. The selection was fantastic and ranged from different Asian cuisines to Western-style dishes. Unfortunately, I had to rush to the airport, so that I just had limited time to enjoy the breakfast. It definitely deserves more attention (and enjoyment) than I could give it at that time.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – Service

The hotel staff was lovely and very helpful. The check-in process worked very smoothly. I also enjoyed the very good WiFI connection. The Hilton Petaling Jaya drives a pool and a gym. Unfortunately, I missed to have a look into the latter. The pool was closed due to maintenance during my visit.

Hilton Petaling Jaya – My View

As Kuala Lumpur is easy to travel with Grab (kind of Uber), the hotel is an excellent choice for a trip to Kuala Lumpur. The service is great, the breakfast and lounge was absolutely enjoyable. I had a really good time in the hotel and would opt for it again.
