Covering the UEFA Champions League Qualification match of Atert Bissen vs. KI Klaksvik in July 2026 required me having two nights in Luxembourg. I was aiming for a reasonably priced stay with good traffic connections, especially as I had to leave back home very early the morning after the match. I finally ended up at an airport hotel, the Mandarina Hotel Airport, which felt like the perfect match for that purpose. Here is my review.

Mandarina Hotel Luxemburg-Airport – Location
The hotel is located right North of the runway of Luxembourg Airport (LUX). The area is rather commercial, there are a few other hotels around. Due to the excellent traffic connections (see below), you also reach the major shopping mall in Kirchberg very easily, which may be very handy. In addition, there are a few restaurants in walking distance. The ibis Luxembourg Airport, which I reviewed before, is about a kilometer South of the hotel, which formerly operated as a Campanile-branded one.
The driving distance to the A1 motorway, which takes you to Central Luxembourg City as well as to Trier in Germany, is about two minutes as most. During your hotel stay, you can also park for free at the hotel. There are parking lots all around the hotel. However, also the public transport is excellent. Inn a few minutes walking distance, you reach the Luxembourg tram, which takes you to the airport, the city center (incl. Central Station) as well as to the National Stadium. There are also multiple bus connections around. As long as you don’t use 1st Class rail, public transport is free in Luxembourg. The hotel also drives an airport shuttle.

Mandarina Hotel Luxemburg-Airport – Room
I had a two night stay in July 2026, Tuesday to Thursday. The flexible rate in a double room, including breakfast, was 254 EUR. I have to state that I did not take the breakfast the second morning as I left before breakfast time. The room was compact and felt rather basic. However, as you typically stay there before or after a flight, it might be fine and that’s exactly what you are looking for. I really liked the large work desk. However, there was just one power outlet around it, so that you would have to unplug the lamp if you want to have a coffee. Luckily, I always travel with a connector. The space, especially if you have a lot of travel luggage, might be very limited, though.

The bathroom is in line with the room itself. It might even be a bit more on the spacious side and felt more comfortable. There are basic amenities in dispensers. The cleaning and maintenance level of the room was really nice, so that it was definitely fit for my purpose of working for my professional job over the day before heading to the stadium. The sound proof against external noise was absolutely reasonable. However, you did hear people in adjacent rooms.

Mandarina Hotel Luxemburg-Airport – Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the restaurant area next to the reception. The area is also used for dining in the evening. In addition, the hotel offers a nice bar area. The selection of items is fine and definitely within expectations for a hotel of that kind in Luxembourg, which is quite a bit influenced by French breakfast culture. There was a nice selection of bakery items and sweet and savory ones. Additionally, the buffet offers a few warm breakfast items as well. Thus, I was overall quite please with my start of the day at the Mandarina Hotel Airport.

Mandarina Hotel Luxemburg-Airport – Service
I really liked the staff at the hotel. They were very friendly at check-in and (early) check-out. The hotel does not drive an exercise facility / gym. Definitely on the very positive side was the very good speed and stability of WiFi in the hotel.
Mandarina Hotel Luxemburg-Airport – My View
The Mandarina Hotel Airport in Luxembourg is not an overwhelmingly fancy place. But it is also not aiming to be one. It comes at a handy location and may be a good budget choice, either for visiting the capital or for a flight from the national airport. Overall, I was absolutely fine with it.
