Krakow is one of my favorite cities in Poland. After some active time, I thus decided to explore the city and have some relaxing time there. As a rather posh Hilton Group stay, I opted for the Hotel Saski. The hotel is branded as a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel and thus gave me perks as a Hilton Diamond member. Here is my review, based on stay in March 2024.

Hotel Saski Krakow – Location

The Curio Collection hotel is located in the heart of the city. The main square Rynek Glowny is just a few steps away from the West entrance of the hotel. You also have numerous other attractions in short walking distance. If you arrive by train, the walking distance to the main station Krakow Glowny is some ten minutes.

As the hotel is in the heart of Old Town, there is no parking opportunity. The hotel does offer a valet parking option, though. Taxis with a “green” engine are allowed to head to the Hotel Saski, so that you can easily take a taxi or Uber from the airport (roughly 10 to 15 Euro). Within some five to ten minutes minutes, you can reach two tram stations, Teatr Bagatela in the West and Teatr Slowackiego in the North, served by multiple tram lines.

Hotel Saski Krakow – Room

I had a two night stay at the Hotel Saski. The flexible two night rate in March 2024, Friday to Sunday, has been 1,247 PLN, roughly 290 EUR. The hotel upgraded me to a city view room. Even though the window faced the street, the view was limited. The room, however, came with a nice traditional style. Arriving around midnight, I was happy to be welcomed by a fruit plate and some cheese. I also liked the large work desk. The room felt really nice.

The bathroom felt more spacious and luxurious. There is a large bathtub with shower. Amenities are provided by dispensers. Housekeeping was really good and the room was absolutely clean. Unfortunately, when I wanted to take a shower in the morning, I explored that the warm water did not work. The hotel tried to solve that, but finally failed. Late in the afternoon, I was offered to switch the room, but I was already settled and had some plans for the evening, so that I refused. The heating in the room did work, though. There was also warm water in other parts of the hotel, including the spa (see below).

Hotel Saski Krakow – Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the lovely restaurant on ground level, right next to the reception. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member It is majorly served as a buffet, but you can also order certain dishes in addition from the menu. I checked out two dishes, an omelette on the first morning and pancakes on the second, and they were both delicious. The buffet is not overwhelming in size, but I loved the quality of the items offered. There are also some local dishes and some stuff you typically don’t find in normal (boring? 😉 ) breakfast buffets, so that I really enjoyed it. The tables felt a bit small, but the staff was very attentive, so that both times, the meal kicked off the day in a great manner.

Hotel Saski Krakow – Spa & Sports

The basement area of the hotel features a lovely spa area with a nice pool. The pool has a water massage area as well as a counter-current system. I really liked relaxing there. Apart from the pool, there is also a wellness zone with a sauna, steam bath and a relax area. Access to the spa is complimentary for hotel guests.

Next to the spa area, there is also a gym. Overall, this felt very nice as well. In contrast to the spa, which has quite nice and long opening hours, access to the gym is 24 hours.

Hotel Saski Krakow – Service

Overall, the staff was excellent. The handling of the hot water issue was of course a bit of unpleasing. However, I have to assume that they really thought their technical team would be able to solve the issue in a timely manner. As a compensation, I have been granted with a complimentary limousine transfer to Krakow Airport (KRK), which was of course a nice treat (value: roughly 40 Euro). There was also very kind communication before the stay. As the hotel knew that I was late, you may question, though, why they did not already have changed the room at check-in.

The hotel runs a small jewelry store on the ground floor. WiFi in the room worked excellent.

Hotel Saski Krakow – My View

If there wasn’t the water issue, the Saski would have definitely provided me an excellent stay. Even though I feel that this is a very unfortunate event, there could have been better strategies to handle the situation. I need to factor that issue in into my rating, but feel it should just lead to a moderate reduction.
