Arriving from Germany on my October 2022 trip to the Florida Weird Al Yankovic shows, I needed a hotel close to the Hertz in Tampa station I wanted to pick up my rental car from the next day. With the rental car station location in the JW Marriott hotel across the street, I went for the Hilton option and stayed at the Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center. Here is a review of my stay.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – Location

If you want to visit the Downtown Tampa sights like the Florida Aquarium or visit a Tampa Bay Lightning match at Amalie Arena, the location of the Embassy Suites is really nice. I had a direct view from my room to the venue, there is only a parking facility between the two buildings. Other sights are in walking distance, you can also walk to the shoreline, enjoy the view or visit the American Victory Ship & Museum.

The area is rather commercial, but there are also some nice places to have a bite and hang out with people, especially close to the Garrison Channel waterway. From there, you can also take scheduled ferry services. The nicest way to get around, including getting to the famous Ybor district, is the free-to-use TECO Line Streetcar. Valet parking is possible. At the time of publishing, the daily rate is 37 USD.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – Atmosphere

The hotel has seven floors of hotel rooms. They are connected by a really nice atrium, from which the suites feel to be connected like apartments. The majority of services are located on ground floor.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – Room

I had a one night stay at the Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center. As the total price for a suite, including taxes, would have exceeded 300 USD, I paid the room by Hilton Honors points. My Diamond status granted me a better experience. The one bedroom suite was an absolute beauty. You enter the room from the living room area, which was really spacious and also featured a dining and work table. The hallway connects all three parts, the living room, the bathroom and the sleeping room. It also features a fridge and a micowave oven.

The sleeping room was absolutely fine as well and featured another small work desk or make-up table. The shower bathroom came with all necessary amenities. The room was very clean, not only in the sanitary area.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – Breakfast

Embassy Suites hotels offer complimentary breakfast. I really loved it. The staff was very kind, the omelette station was lovely. Overall, there were quite a lot of items offered, including waffles and other hot breakfast items. The culinary start of the day was definitely a treat.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – Service

I loved the staff at the Embassy Suites. They were very friendly at check-in and during my stay. The WiFi in the hotel worked very well. On the third floor, the hotel is running a nice gym / fitness center. I felt that it was definitely nice and fit for purpose.

The key attraction on the third floor, indeed. The Southbound-facing outdoor pool is a real beauty and significantly larger as you would expect it to be in a North American hotel. Especially after sunset, the scenery is lovely in this area.

 

Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown Convention Center – My View

I feel that the stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center was excellent. The location and the public is great, I liked the staff and the outdoor pool is a lovely treat. Hard to find negative points for this one – maybe apart from that prices might me in line what you get: a really, really good stay.
