Visiting two ice hockey matches, Montreal Victoire in the PWHL (women) and the Montreal Canadians in the NHL (men), made me have two nights in Montreal in March 2026. It has been the first time I visit the city and his Quebec-French lifestyle. As the location felt quite ideal for my purpose, I opted for the Embassy Suites by Hilton Montreal. Here is my hotel review.

Embassy Suites Montreal – Location

The Hilton-branded hotel is located in the financial district of Montreal. I could walk back from the Montreal Canadians match at Centre Bell, which was a 15 min walk. The Montreal Convention Center is right across the road. It is also a short walk to Chinatown. You can also walk to other Central Montreal attractions, like the cathedral Notre-Dame.

Montreal Central Station, from where I took a VIA Rail Business Class trip to Toronto, is both about a ten to fifteen minute walk away. It allows regional and national travel. For local travel, the metro station Place d’Armes is a short walk. However, the access road was blocked during my visit, which was a bit of bothersome. There is also a bus station (Saint-Antoine), close to the hotel, which is served by four bus lines. The road in front of the hotel is one-way, heading Northeast-bound. Parking in the hotel garage is roughly 40 CAD per night.

Embassy Suites Montreal – Room

I had two nights at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Montreal and booked a studio with queen bed. I have been upgraded to a king room on my stay from Saturday to Monday in March 2026 . The stay included breakfast and had a total, incl. tax, of 408.77 CAD, roughly 253 EUR. The room was a typical suite room with a separate living area. It did not feature a work desk, though, which I felt being rather bothering. Apart from that, the room was really nice and spacious, with a large kitchenette area (microwave oven only). The sink was separate and lead to a bar-style feeling. A very handy feature for longer stays is the large fridge and the cozy and comfortable seating area. Right next to the entrance, there was also quite a lot of storage space.

The sleeping room was rather narrow due to the large king bed. Nonetheless, the room was absolutely fine and fit for purpose and featured a second TV set. The bathroom was ensuite and very comfortable. It featured a nice walk-in showers and most (basic) amenities given in dispensers. The maintenance and cleanliness of the room was very good.

Embassy Suites Montreal – Breakfast

I had two breakfasts, on Sunday and Monday morning, which lead to very different experiences. The first pictures were taken on Monday morning. The atmosphere was very relaxed, there was live cooking of eggs and refilled warm, bread and healthy items, so that the breakfast definitely met the standards of the brand. The style of the room with the large bar (which is used later during the day) was really nice as well.

The Sunday morning experience was very different. The staff had massive trouble to refill the breakfast items. Basics like breads were missing, the room was packed and it was absolutely unenjoyable. The key reason for that was that there was no controlled access. You received a breakfast voucher at check-in which you simply put into a box once you enter the restaurant. The hotel should definitely have stopped people entering the restaurant. Live cooking was possible, but the line waiting for it was too long. Overall, that morning service was a very poor experience.

Embassy Suites Montreal – Service

The check-in later in the evening was very friendly. The staff was fine. However, they did not really take my critics about the breakfast at check-out. Unfortunately, I did not make it checking out the gym provided. The WiFi in the hotel was fine.

Embassy Suites Montreal – My View

My thoughts about the hotel are mixed. On the one hand, the room is really nice and the location is great for a city stay. However, the table at the sofa was too low for working and there was no work desk. The first morning breakfast was absolutely disastrous. Bad luck, the Embassy Suites definitely has some very good potential.
