Flyctory.com Cons

  • Some breakfast issues

My wife and I went for a trip to London over Easter 2025. The hotel we went for was the Hilton London Metropole. We went for it due to the location and competitive price. Here is my review of the stay.

Hilton London Metropole – Location

The Hilton London Metrpole is located right South of Harrow Road, which (in its extentions) connects places like Paddington Station with Kings Cross or attractions like Madame Tussauds. The area is rather commercial with a nice mixture of other hotels, restaurants, and shops.

From a public transport point of view, the hotel is quite ideally located. Paddington Station is a some 15 minutes walk away from the hotel. Edgware Road has two separate Underground Stations, one featuring the Bakerloo Line only and one for the Circe Line, the District Line and the Hammersmith & City Line. Furthermore, there are numerous bus connections, especially towards city center and Oxford Street.

Hilton London Metropole – Room

My wife and I had three nights over Easter 2025 (Friday to Monday in April 2025) at the hotel. Our original booking was for three nights in a King Guest Room, leading to a total of 485.60 GBP. Due to my Hilton Honors Diamond status, we have been upgraded to an Executive Room and received free breakfast. The room had a really nice and comfortable size. There was also sufficient space to store our luggage. The work desk was sufficiently spacious for comfortable business work as well. The room also came with a safe and a small fridge, which you could use as you like (no minibar).

The shower bathroom was really nice as well. Amenities were provided in dispensers, there were few additional items. I really liked that, next to the sink, there was sufficient space for toiletries. Like the whole room, the state and maintenance of the room was very good. We also liked the very good and precise housekeeping during our stay. The hotel has two, rather separate, towers. Our room was located in the one closer to the reception.

Hilton London Metropole – Executive Lounge

On the second floor, the tower of our room also featured the executive lounge. Despite the really large lounge size and the efficient layout with the buffet in the middle, the place was rather full during breakfast and happy hour. We really loved the executive lounge. A key reason for that was the outstanding and attentive lounge staff. During the early evening happy hour, the food and drink service was really nice. The lounge featured a nice range of different seating.

After the first morning, we also took breakfast in the lounge. The service was very close to the one provided in the main breakfast restaurant. The key difference was the much more friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Hilton London Metropole – Breakfast

As said, we spent the breakfast at first morning in the breakfast room. The restaurant is huge with buffets on both ends. I was not absolutely fond of the experience. Despite the large restaurant, it felt hectic. Additionally, the design of the breakfast room did not really lead to a relaxed start of the day. Bread and other items were located in a cupboard-alike area, which lead to a lot of waiting and struggle. On top of that, the toaster was in the very corner of that area, which was absolutely unfortunate. The selection was reasonable and fit for purpose – other Hilton Hotels do much better, though.  There was no live cooking station (or: it was not obviously located).

Hilton London Metropole – Service

Overall, the staff at the hotel was great and really helpful. Only the in-fact check-in after we had left our luggage in the morning was a bit of distanced. The hotel drives a gym on the third floor on the more distant tower. As it was in use any time I tried to visit it, I unfortunately could not take snaps of the rather large area. WiFi in the

Hilton London Metropole – My View

The key struggle I have in my review is how much I value the executive lounge in my rating. On the one hand, it was a big factor of an absolutely enjoyable stay for my wife and myself. On the other hand, most of you will likely not enjoy the service. However, even with the “normal” service in the hotel, it is a really nice spot for a stay in London. The service is good, the traffic connections are really nice, especially if you travel in and out from Heathrow Airport (LHR).
