Rarely, it has been easier for me to visit all the Hilton Hotels of a country (if you name the Faroe Islands to be one) in one trip than in September 2023 – there is just a one of them on the islands North of Scotland, where more sheep than people are living. I was absolutely curious how this rather new place would be alike. Here is my review.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands – Location

The hotel is located on the Northern edge of the capital Torshavn. The location is not too close to the city center, but has other perks for travelers: for example, there is a supermarket close to the hotel and you reach the road towards the Northern parts very quickly and easily. Additionally, the Gundadalur sporting facilities are in walking distance. This includes the (for opponent team) infamous soccer national stadion Torsvollur, the Ovari Vollur used for national soccer matches and a major swimming pool.

While public bus services to other parts of Faroe Islands run on lower frequencies, the connections in Torshavn are typically quite nice. The hotel is served by bus 2 (Midlon). The Hollin a Halsi station (close to the stadiums) is not too far on the West of the hotel and features seven bus lines. The hotel features a major parking lot as well.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands- Room

I had a three night stay (Friday to Monday) on the Faroe Islands on that trip and solely stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. The three night stay was 4,365 DKK (Danish Krona) with different nightly prices, an average of 1,455 DKK or 195 EUR. The booking was a King Room with View at a double points rate. The hotel upgrade me to an upper floor room, which had a really nice overview of the area, including the “national animal”, sheep. The sink was integrated into the overall large room, you more or less entered the room through the bathroom area. This worked very well. The work desk was a but of limited in space, but they had a posh fridge as well as a really nice water kettle. Overall, the room reflected the rather young age of the hotel, feeling modern and spacious.

The toilet and the large shower were located in rooms next to the sink. The water pressure on the shower was a bit of limited. However, Everything was fine, the amenities provided were good as well. Housekeeping worked perfectly. You have to state though, that the windows are not reflecting too strongly from the outside. This means that the buy-in for the lovely view is that people might see you in your room. There are also rooms facing to the opposite direction without a view.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands – Breakfast

Due to my Hilton Honors Diamond member status, breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands was complimentary for me. Especially if you visit the hotel during the weekend and fancy some more sleep, the hotel is an excellent choice – they serve the first meal of the day until 13:00(!) then (weekdays: 10:00). Omelettes were made to order, the other dishes were located on the self-service buffet, including cutlery. There was a quite nice range of dishes, including wonderful self-made waffles. However, on Sunday, when the hotel has been really busy, they sometimes struggled to stock up the breakfast items.

The hotel also features a very popular bar and a restaurant. I did not try the latter, but the reviews are really nice. Hilton Honors guests also receive access to the Honors Hour of drinks.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands – Service

The staff in the hotel was really friendly and helpful at all times. The WiFi in the room worked very well, too. The hotel has a nice gym. As I took the pictures in the late evening hours, you cannot see that majorly the gym comes with the same view as my hotel room had. I did not spot on the Hilton website that the hotel is also offering a spa with sauna and whirlpool (subject to a charge, Diamond members have one free visit). Unfortunately, I did not have any clothing for that and could not have a look.

Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands – My View

Regardless whether you want to explore the island or just head to a soccer match – the Hilton Garden Inn is a nice choice for a visit to lovely country. The architecture is stunning, the view is lovely and the staff is great. During my stay, I already booked additional two nights in November 2023, in order to visit a match at the national stadium. That’s likely the best feedback I can give to this place.
