When I visited the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan in February 2026, I majorly stayed at a hotel right outside the city. For my plans, the ibis Milano Fiera felt to be a perfect option, given that I had a rental car anyway. Here is my review of the stay in the Accor brand.

 

ibis Milano Fiera – Location & Access

The hotel is in fact located in Lainate (not mix it up with Linate, one of the Milan airports), a Northern suburb of Milan. The hotel is rather on the Northern edge of the village, but in fact it comes with a nice location for travelers. There is a commercial area around, which features two restaurants (including a McDonalds) and a Lidl grocery store right next door. Despite being located close to a highway, it is not that loud at the ibis Milano Fiera, also because it is at a dead and street. The Museum of the Story of Alfa Romeo is just a few kilometers away.

As said, I had a rental car on that trip, also allowing me to have a look at the 2006 Torino Olympic mountain venues. The hotel drives complimentary parking and also has car chargers. However, the gates are closed in the night and at least at one night, it took quite a while for the 24 hour reception quite a while to open it. There is also a public bus stop a few steps away. It allows you to go to Rho, from where it was just a one stop trip by regional / commuter rail to the temporary Rho Ice Hockey Arena. I parked my car at Rho Station, which was comparably cheap and very handy.  Even though the E35/E62 highway is right behind the hotel, it is a shorter drive until you made it there and can drive on to Milan and other Italian cities.

 

ibis Milano Fiera – The Room

I had three nights, Thursday to Sunday, during the Olympic Games in February 2026. Thus, there were adopted cancellation rules (one month advance notice). The total price for a double bed room, including breakfast and taxes, was 423.50 EUR – which was definitely a rather cheap option during the sports event. The room had the expected, typical ibis design. It definitely had a nice size, so that I overall enjoyed my stay. It featured quite some storage and even a small fridge, which was very handy during the stay.

However, the central heating control (which should at least allow me to adjust by +/- 3 C) had issues. I complained about it several times, as room temperatures raised over 25C. However, the hotel was booked out so that there was no chance for a room change. The only “solution” they offered, i.e. opening the window, did not lead to too much relief, also because I did not want to keep it open when I was not in (due to the safety of my equipment).

The bathroom had a nice size. It even had a bidet, which is rather common in Italy. Liquid soap and shower gel was provided in dispensers.

Breakfast at ibis Milano Fiera is served on lobby level. The selection of items was a bit of limited, the quality at a just fine. I liked the breakfast room, which was rather welcoming. The breakfast service was fine, but I was also feeling that a change was welcome after spending three mornings there.

Overall, I liked the reception staff. WiFi worked fine, I had to use a hotspot at few occasions, though. While the check-in and check-out was fine, the handling of the heating as well as the longer waiting time for the parking gate was unpleasing, though. There is no gym or similar place. For later hours, when the grocery store is not open, the vending machines at lobby level are a nice alternative.

 

ibis Milano Fiera – My View

Based on the price during that big sports event, I was absolutely pleased with the ibis Milano Fiera. The location with the services right around is really a plus. However, the handling of issues did not please me.  They also did not offer me any kind of compensation, which was a bit of disappointing. Thus, the hotel cannot make it to the very top range of my ratings.
