  • Limited food options in the hotel (but good options outside)

There were a couple of different options and changes in the itinerary of our recent Las Vegas trip in December 2023 and January 2024. Thus, we finally ended up having a need for a single night stay somewhere close to the Strip. My wife and I finally went for a budget option. The Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Center Strip is located right at the strip in an excellent location with free parking for hotel guests and no resort fees. Not too many places in Sin City offer this combination nowadays any more. Let’s share our experience.

Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Location

The hotel is part of a rather simple and basic traditional casino on the strip. It’s location, however, is outstanding. On its North, there is the Venetian, which also grants access to the Sphere, right South of it is the Harrah’s and The LINQ Resort and Casino. Across the strip, you are right in Cesar’s Palace and The Mirage. Right in front of the Harrah’s, the DEUCE Strip Shuttle bus is having a Northbound stop, the Southbound one is opposite of the hotel. You may also use the Las Vegas Monorail, Harrah’s & The LINQ station is just a few steps away. There are also some other key attractions around, like the High Roller Ferris wheel, which is about a ten minute walk.

The rear of the hotel and casino features a major parking garage. When you check in, you have to cross the whole casino – thus it might be easier not to take your luggage with you for check-in. Once you checked in, you have a key card opening a door right to the hotel area, which is just three floors, some 40 rooms each floor. The main access is in the casino, but very close to the Strip. Thus, even if you don’t like having casino life too much, this won’t bother you too much.

Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Room

My wife and I had one night, from 29th to 30th December 2023. The flexible king room, including all taxes, was 147.38 USD. The prices right before New Year’s celebration are ridiculously high, so that was really remarkable. For comparison, the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Las Vegas Strip we stayed in before would have been about 400 USD for hat night. The room was overall clean, but rather basic. The style was a rather old fashioned. However, it was overall reliable and had all facilities you need, which includes a fridge and a microwave oven. The air in the room was not too good, though. The view from the room was limited, into a backyard

There was also a capsule coffee machine. The bathroom with a combined shower and bathtub had a good size and was clean as well. The Best Western plus offered all basic amenities you need for your daily cleaning. I have to state, though, that we had some minor issues with tiny ants. Not too bothering, but I have to mention it, of course. I guess it is hard to avoid from a hotel perspective.

Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Food

The Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Center Strip does not offer breakfast or food by itself. There is a small food court, where you can grab a Subway sandwich, Pizza Hut pizzas and hot dogs, which is not really pleasing. However, the building features a popular Denny’s and is right next to a McDonald’s and a Panda Express. Of course, the surrounding casinos come with some posh options as well.

Best Western Plus Casino Royale – Service

Even though the hotel is rather basic, it does provide you with all services you need, especially having in mind that the reception desk is in the middle of a casino. There is a small pool area in the rear of the hotel, close to the parking garage. Not the nicest pool spot in Vegas, definitely, but it does have some privacy and also features a rather nice gym as well. The floors also feature vending machines and a business room with a printer. WiFi in the hotel worked out very nicely.

Best Western Plus Casino Royale – My View

The Best Western Plus Casino Royale is not a premier Las Vegas destination – neither as a casino nor as a hotel. But I feel that the management is accepting this and doing exactly the right thing: making use of the strengths of the hotel. Having your car next to you for free, having a great location for a great price, enjoy Las Vegas with ease. Yeah, the downside is the slightly outdated room and that you cannot sent your friends postcard of the posh (and more expansive…) place you slept in. I also don’t like the huge casino hotels. So if you just want to gamble and have some cheap drinks, you might also really like this place.
