Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef
393 AED
Flyctory.com Pros
- Nice location at Al Seef shore
- Amazing rooftop pool
- Nice, welcoming design
Flyctory.com Cons
- Too few free power plugs in room
- Lengthy check-in process
Even though my first night of my December 2020 trip to Dubai has been significantly shorter than expected due to bad luggage handling at Dubai Terminal 3 and car rental issues with Europcar, I still had a bunch of hours at the Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef. It was my first ever stay at this brand of Hilton Hotels, so that I have been really curious about this stay. Here is my review.

Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Location
Al Seef is a borough of Dubai right at the South shore of Dubai Creek. By the traditional boat / ferry services, it is only a short trip to some of the historic attractions like the Gold Souk. Al Seef itself has been transformed to a shopping and eating district. The hotel is partnered with another Hilton Hotel in the historically made part of Al Seef, the Al Seef Heritage Hotel Dubai, which is branded as a Curio Collection. The hotel is just a short taxi ride from the airport (under ten Euro), the next metro station is Burjuman (some 10 minutes walk away). There is also a bus station next to the hotel. The hotel offers parking facilities. The same grounds feature a Hampton by Hilton.
The Al Seef shopping and eating district offers a couple of options for a bite or a drink. Close to the metro station, there is also a hypermarket, which is also helpful to staff up your travelers’ needs. There are a couple of consulates around. In general, I would rather use this hotel if I had a rental car, though. The West part of Al Seef is a lovely historic souk area.
Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Atmosphere
The Canopy by Hilton has a very home-alike and cozy style. I especially liked the lounge area and a section which reminded me of a library. There was also some Christmas decoration during my stay – Dubai is international.

Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Room
In the room levels as well as in the rooms, there is quite a lot of black, which gives a bit of a depressive touch. The room itself was not overwhelmingly spacious, but absolutely sufficient for a city trip. The working desk was right behind the head of the bed. This is indeed a design which is in need to get used to. The key struggle I had with the work area was, however, that the desk was comparably slim and it only featured one free power plug and some free USB ports (the plug, however, was a universal one able to serve all major international power plug formats. There was also no additional power or table for the sleeping area, which had nicely located light switches at the head of the bed.
I liked the other features of the living / sleeping area, especially the stylish fridge, which was filled with some water at arrival. I guess that I received the room category I booked, a king room, which was 393 AED for one night, roughly 85 Euro.

The bathroom had a very modern design and featured a bathtub, which was also used as shower. No complaints here – the place was beautiful, functional and sufficiently spacious.

Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Breakfast
The restaurant area is in the rear of the lobby, where there is also a small hotel bar. The Dubai regulations required a serviced buffet, so that the staff is handing you over your selected dishes at the buffet. The buffet was not too large, but had quite a variety. You could sit inside or outside at a quiet terrace area. The outdoor area also featured live cooking of egg dishes.

Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Pool & Gym
The Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef operates a lovely pool area on the rooftop of the hotel. The pool area comes with a bar and a not too large, but really beautiful infinity pool. The view of the area is breathtaking. No doubt, this is the signature feature of the hotel, simply awesome.

The hotel is also driving a cozy gym, which again offers lovely views of the creek and the Al Seef borough. The machines looked very new and well-maintained (not too surprisingly, as the hotel is quite new…)

Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – Service
Internet in the hotel worked absolutely fine. The check-in was quite bumpy. I have to say that I arrived extremely late at the hotel (around 4:00 hrs) and the computer systems seemed to have been in some sort of upgrade / maintenance. Still, the check-in process took over 15 minutes, my Hilton Honors Diamond status was not honored by the staff.
The check out experience (too) few hours later was superb, though. The receptionist was very nice and even offered me to transfer my luggage to the Al Seef Heritage Hotel, which was my next stay on that trip. It finally did not work out, but I really liked her attitude.
Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – My View
Even though my remaining four nights in Dubai in December 2020 were in Curio Collection hotels, I felt that the Canopy by Hilton overall felt to be the most cozy and welcoming stay of my trip. On the negative side, there was indeed the slow check-in process as well as the strange work desk design. In my point of view, a modern hotel room just needs more power supply, including the possibility to charge your mobile phones overnight. The Canopy by Hilton will likely not become my best hotel stay in 2021, but it was indeed a good start of my United Arab Emirates trip.
