Flyctory.com Pros

  • Nice location, close to motorway
  • Friendly reception desk

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Room rather small
  • Distance from city center

As part of my mileage run in late January 2025, I had a night at the Hilton Garden Inn Malaga. The hotel was a rather straight-forward choice, as the only hotel closer to the airport, a Holiday Inn Express, does not come with too good reviews and had significantly higher prices. Here is the review of my stay in the Hilton Group hotel.

Hilton Garden Inn Malaga – Location

The hotel is located West of the city center of Malaga, in a commercial area between the airport and Downtown Malaga. The hotel is close to a highway. There are a few hotels, some restaurants and a grocery store in the area.

Due to the proximity of the highway, the hotel can be accessed easily by car. There is a metro station 500m away from the hotel, Puerta Blanca. From there, Line L2 connects to the city center. Please note that the metro does not connect to Malaga Airport (AGP), which is connected by regional rail line C1.

Hilton Garden Inn Malaga – Room

I had one night at the hotel. The semi-flex rate for a King Room was 104.50 EUR, breakfast was included due to my Hilton Honors Diamond level. The room was fine, had a good size and came with a fridge. I liked the large work desk especially. However, the room felt overall a bit outdated and used. There were several scars on the sideboard, for example. The bed was fine and overall, it was a reasonable choice for a night close to the airport.

The bathroom felt more modern. It also featured the large Hilton Garden Inn-typical shower. I have to say that the floor of the shower felt very slippery to me. Apart from a toilet, there was also a bidet. The hotel provides amenities like soap, shower gel, shampoo or body lotion in dispensers. Apart from that, the room surprisingly featured travel amenities like a dental kit. The bathroom overall felt well cleaned and much better maintained than the room as such.

Hilton Garden Inn Malaga – Breakfast

The breakfast performance was fine. Spain is definitely not the country you travel to for a good culinary start of the day. Based on that, the hotel definitely met my expectations. The breakfast room is close to the pool area. It is not the most charming place I ever had at a hotel, nut it gets its job done. The selection of fresh fruit and veggies are nice, warm dishes and bakery items are fine.

Hilton Garden Inn Malaga – Service

The welcoming at the hotel was very friendly, the staff spoke English at an absolutely reasonable level. I also enjoyed the free and stable WiFi. The hotel is also driving a gym and a pool. The pool is next to the breakfast room. Of course, it did not operate in January, but it felt okay. The setting in the commercial area is not overwhelmingly attractive, though. I could not find the gym (and also did not ask for it). This also means that there are no signs to it or something like a hotel guide, which tells you where it is located.

Hilton Garden Inn Malaga – My View

The Hilton Garden Inn Malaga gave me a fine night during my trip. Unfortunately, that’s it, not more. Too many factors and services felt a bit of limited. Despite the metro connection, I would also suggest going for a more central location if you want to explore the city.
