Krakow is one of my favorite places in Poland. I love the city and the wide range of historic and modern attraction which you can visit. During a trip in summer 2023, I had one night at the Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto in the heart of the city. Here is my review of this Accor Group hotel.
Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto – Location
The hotel is located in a great location in the heart of Krakow. It is right across the road from Krakow Glowny, the main station of Krakow. Central Krakow attractions like the Ulica Florianka are just a few steps away. Krakow main station hosts several valuable services for travelers, including a supermarket. restaurants and several shops. Right next to it, there is a shopping mall as well.
The location is also ideal for travel. Multiple bus lines and tram lines are departing right in front of the hotel from Dworzec Głowny Zachod station. The main station also allows for regional, national and international rail travel. On a previous trip, I also rode the Express InterCity Premium (EIP) train from Krakow to Warsaw. From this station, you can also use the Krakow Airport Train.
Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto – Room
I booked a Privilege Room with upgraded amenities in late July 2023. The rate for the room is non-public, breakfast was charged with additional 85 PLN, roughly 19 Euro. My Accor Gold status lead to an upgrade to a Junior Suite with balcony, which was absolutely lovely. The sleeping and the living area wre divided, you could rotate the TV in either direction. This cupboard also held the minibar, the water kettle and some amenities. The room category leads to some free drinks, a Nespresso machine, better amenities, Bose loudspeakers and similar nice treats. I liked to work at the large work desk. It felt like you can change the sofa into additional bedding – this piece of furniture also had some marks. Apart from that, the only housekeeping issue has been that my body lotion was empty.
The large shower bathroom was really nice. The toilet felt to be a bit of narrow, but that is of course also related to my body size. The amenities provided all were sustainable, e.g. wooden toothbrushes. The room also had air conditioning, which was very nice. The balcony did not offer a view – and being so close to the city center and main station does lead to noise, but I still felt it is a nice place to hang out.
Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto – Breakfast
Even though I liked the hotel as such, breakfast is one of the best disciplines of the Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto. There is such a lovely range of different tastes and nibbles, from international cuisine to local favorites. You also have a large range of fruit, juices and vegetables. Apart from scrambled eggs and the waffle machine, egg dishes are cooked fresh. I absolutely enjoyed by omelette and having a relaxing Saturday morning at their restaurant, which is a wine restaurant for lunch and dinner.
Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto – Service
Being on the top floor, my room was right across the elevator and gym. The gym might look rather small at first sight, but I felt it was a really nice one. The hotel WiFi worked very reliably. The Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto offers excellent service – their staff is really kind and friendly.
Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto – My View
The Mercure Krakow Stare Miasto is an excellent choice if you visit the city. This is, of course, especially the case, if you want to use the airport train or have other rail travel in mind as well. The services were fine, apart from minor issues. I also loved my room. Finally, I feel I praised the perfect location sufficiently. I would definitely stay in this place again.
