200 Episodes of “Songs of the Week” – Here are my favorite ones

Friday was a special day. Not only that it was the birthday of my father (who passed away too long ago), it was also the basis for a very special edition of my Songs of the Week. For the 200th time, I presented you my favorite new (non-country) songs. I felt this is a good opportunity to look back to these almost four years of new music. I (indeed!) went through all posts and picked my fifteen favorite leading songs of these posts. Hope you enjoy me sharing some nostalgic feelings about many, many (at that time) new songs I shared with you on Flyctory.com.

200 Episodes of “Songs of the Week” – My Favorite Songs

Here are my twelve favorite songs from the Songs of the WeekOnly songs which in fact lead the Songs of he week came in consideration for this listing. There were some songs, which I might even judge higher from a nowadays perspective. I compiled this list from a long list of more than 30 candidates.  I just could not cut it down to less than 15 tracks.

15th: Sea Girls – Midnight Butterflies

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 22nd March 2024

Many of the bands in here have been featured by me multiple times. The first time the Sea Girls lead the Songs of the Week was in January 2024, when they had the best song with I Want You To Know MeMidnight Butterflies released two months later is even more of a blast. It is also the title track of the album by the London band I reviewed in June 2024.

14th: Royale Lynn – Sacrifice

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 20th September 2024

When I ran into Canadian Royale Lynn initially, she has still been a country music artist. Nowadays, she completed the transition to hard rockSacrifice is already a song of that period – and the most rocking song of my posting. She lead my Songs of the Week twice. In June 2025, I reviewed her album Black Magic

13th: Ray.An – Girls

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 30th September 2022

Ray.An is a rock artist from Southern Germany. After her song Girls topped the Songs of the Week, I also reviewed her album Hey You! in 25th August 2025. A really good rock song and an interesting artist.

12th: Sonic Wildhearts – Hey Rosie

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 19th August 2022

The Sonic Wildhearts are a music project by Norwegian Ole Halvorsen, who is – however – living in Germany. His song Hey Rosie made me smile and is one of the funniest and happiest tracks in my post. In 2023, I also reviewed the Sonic Wildhearts album Get It On.

11th: Alexander Eder – 7 Stunden

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 1st April 2022

Alexander Eder is likely one of the most featured artists in my Songs of the Week. I really love the characteristic voice of the Austrian pop artist. I simply loved his song 7 Stunden. In 2020, I also reviewed his album Schlagzeilen.

10th: Annis Rallis – Ena Asteri

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 6th September 2024

I got to know Annis Rallis from the German Rock of Ages tour. Apart from other shows, the GreekBritish artist and musician was part of the cast at the 2023 tour debut show in Munich. Her song Ena Asteri is truly magical.

9th: Sekou – Better Man

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 12th May 2023

The British artist from Greater Birmingham comes with an amazing voice. Thus, his Better Man is one of the most special and characteristic songs of this list of releases. Three years before Better Man, I also reviewed his EP Out of Mind.

8th: The Kolors – Karma

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 3rd May 2024

The Kolors were very successful in Italy already when I ran into their Cabriolet Panorama during a trip in summer 2021. I absolutely loved that song. It was part of my summer hits 2021 post as well as my Song of the Year in the same year. In the meantime, I saw the synth-pop band live – and have to say they are an absolute blast. In my Songs of the WeekKARMA made it to the top. An absolutely catching pop track.

7th: Drei Meter Feldweg – Neue Single

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 21st June 2024

When the German punk rock band released this song, they absolutely made me smile. In Neue Single, they shared their view of the spirit in the music industry. Later, I reviewed their album Gut Holzwhich is a really good release as well. I love this song!

6th: Jenn Bostic – Easy to Love

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 22nd August 2025

Jenn Bostic’s song about her son is the latest entry into this list of fifteen songs. I happened to run into her during a show at the Listening Room in Nashville in June 2019. Her Jealous of the Angels is a Song of my Life. I absolutely love her and her music, which is somewhere between country, pop and religious music. This song is an absolute masterpiece.

5th: Nino de Angelo – Irgendwann im Leben

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 8th November 2024

Nino de Angelo is a big name in the German schlager business. I one of my best concerts when he was on stage multiple years ago. His characteristic voice and his strong message songs are simply beautiful. Irgendwann im Leben (“Sometimes in Life”) is one of these tracks which simply stay in your mind,

4th: Florian Künstler – Das Leben hier vermissen

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 20th December 2024

Florian Künstler wrote this song for the soundtrack of the Das Leben ist jetzt – Die Real Life Guys movie. However, the German artist appeared on Flyctory.com multiple times. I also reviewed his 2025 album Du bist nicht allein – a fantastic one!

3rd: Lindsay Ell – Story I Tell Myself

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 4th October 2024

Another Featured Artist of Flyctory.com is Lindsay Ell. The Canadian transitioned from a country artist towards pop music. Story I tell myself has been one of the first songs she published of that new era. Her excellence in storytelling and songwriting stays – and I am damn proud of her. She simply had to be on this list.

2nd: Evon Rose – Fire Vs. Water

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 18th October 2024

I feature a bunch of big names in this post – but bands like Evon Rose definitely deserve to be in here as well. Fire vs. Water by the Austrian rockers is an amazing, catching and absolutely underrated song. Later in 2024, I also reviewed their album Thunder Rumblingwhich is an absolute treat as well.

My Favorite “Song of the Week”: Loi – Am I Enough

Leading song in the Songs of the Week at: 17th November 2023

I share quite some stories with Loi from Mannheim. I featured the very first headline show of energetic singer-songwriter in Cologne in October 2023. Later I reviewed her 2025 album Left In Your LoveA very honest artist with intense songs. Loi lead my Songs of the Week twice, but this one is an absolute gem.
