Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 10 June 2022)

I had a long list of songs for my Songs of the Week… and after I composed a nice order of tracks, it is finally lead by an Austrian band. Hope you enjoy this very rocking list, which you can listen to on Spotify as well, as always (see below). I am especially happy about that for the first time, this posting also includes a classic music track. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Banki Moon – Flaschendrehn’

What a cool new pop-rock release from Graz in Austria: this song tells about the typical teenage game of turning the bottle. A bit of a 1990’s touch. Love it.

Monster Truck – Golden Woman

The Canadian hard rockers open quite a long block of rock tracks in this edition of Songs of the Week. Nice fast song with a very classic touch. Love it.

Tokyo – One World

1980’s music lovers might remember the Austrian legendary band Tokyo. They are still active – and ain’t that a great new one?

Black Star Riders – Better than Saturday Night

The first time I ran into the music of the Black Star Riders was when they were supporting Whitesnake and Def Leppard on a UK tour. Founded in 2012, they have more and more established in the rock music scene. Great new one by the US-Americans.

Rise Against – Last Man Standing

Big week for Rise Against: they did not only release this single at the beginning of the week, but also a nice five track EP on Friday. Let’s rock with the Chicago band.

Demi Lovato – Skin Of My Teeth

Especially the beginning of the bygone week featured a couple of really great rock songs. This one by Demi Lovato is definitely one of them.

Purified in Blood – Krater

I received this song by the Norwegian band from a promotion agency for independent artists. Loved it!

H.E.A.T. – Hollywood

The singles released before the new H.E.A.T. album Force Majeure really feel promising. Here is another one. Love their sound.

The Rasmus – Rise

Strings and emotions: the Finnish band releases a very gentle part of their music. Love it.

Jonas Hackner – Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst

Such a beautiful soft rock track by Southern German singer-songwriter Jonas Hackner. The chorus roughly states “I see something, what you don’t see… It is you”. A beautiful love letter written in music.

ART – Bester Fehler

Hip-hop and rap songs typically have a tough time in these postings – I am just not too much into the genre. The German rapper ART, who is nowadays living in Cologne, just made it too good. I loved his song.

Vanessa Mai – No Hard Feelings

After a couple of Vanessa Mai releases, which I did not like at all, No Hard Feelings is a nice pop release to her. Such a friendly lady, hope there are more songs like this one again.

Halsey – So Good

A new single by Ashley Nicolette Frangipane aka Halsey. A really good pop song by the New Jersey lady. So Good just stays in your mind. Very good one.

Nico Santos – Weekend Lover

International-style summer pop by the German-Spanish artist Nico Santos. I feel this song is simply made to dance and enjoy.

Linda Fäh – Ich liebe Rom

Okay, that one is schlager-kitsch at its very highest level. But Ich liebe Rom (which translates to “I love Rome“) just feels to me like it would be the main song of a new Disney movie. Very plushy one by the Swiss artist.

Sofia Lainovic – Spring

Sofia Lainovic is an artist from Munich. I don’t know too much about her, but I simply enjoyed reading the few line in the press information to the song. I just copy and paste it here: “When I wrote Spring, I saw the boy I have been in love with for years in my mind’s eye. I saw us on a warm summer evening. I saw us listening to Nirvana and singing along loudly during a road trip together. I could see us, sharing a cigarette, taking shelter from the spring rain under a canopy. I imagined us running naked, hand in hand, into a cold lake. Like an indie movie. That’s what Spring is supposed to sound like.”

Riopy – Human Compassion

The postings of this category is open for all genres (but country). When I listened to Human Compassion by the British artist Riopy (who is born in France), I just had to share it with you. It is piano music, it is classic… But it touches me just too much to ignore it.
