I have featured Florian Künstler and his songs multiple times in my Songs of the Week. The more, I was really happy to finally feature him with an album release. Here is my view on Du bist nicht allein, which has been published on 21st March 2025.
Florian Künstler – About The Artist
Flirian Künstler is a German singer-songwriter. He grew up in Northern Germany, where is also started playing the guitar. Already in the early 2010’s, he won some regional music contests as part of a music duo. He first followed a civil career, before he started to concentrate in the late 2010’s. He released four EPs, before he shared his 2023 debut album Gegengewicht. The album just missed the German Top 10 Album Charts. He is nowadays based in Lübeck.
Florian Künstler – Du bist nicht allein – Track by Track
Du bist nicht allein comes with 17 tracks and a duration of 48 minutes.
1. Verzeih dir selbst
The title of the opening song translates to “Pardon yourself”. The song is a singer-songwriter pop song, which is very personal autobiographic, reflecting situations of Florian Künstler’s past life. The final lyrics then have some sort of positive outlook:
An mein späteres Ich
Ich hoffe so, dass du glücklich bist
(“To the later me:
I hope that much that you are happy”)
Lovely write.
2. Das größte Kompliment
During 2024, Florian Künstler made it into my Songs of the Week four times. The first time was as of 26th January 2024 – with this song. The song is a beautifully written love song in a very calm and intimate setting. Great one!
3. Stille Kämpfer
This late August 2024 release has been in my Songs of the Week as well. Stille Kämpfer (“Silent Fighters”) thereby praises the small, hard-gained success stories, which are typically not that much in focus of other people or a wider audience. Again, Florian Künstler does not use that much of an instrumental arrangement, but focuses on his story. This leads to a lovely listen.
4. Weiße Haare
Wenn wir beide weiße Haare haben (“When we both will have grey hair”) is the fourth song of Du bist nicht allein. The song is looking forward to what will life will be alike when you are older. The chorus continues with … werd ich noch immer Deinen Namen sagen, wenn mich irgendjemand fragt wer meine große Liebe war (“… I will still call your name when somebody is asking who has been my big love”). Such a lovely praise of love.
5. Du bist nicht allein
The title track is the fifth one on Florian Künstlers album. Again, Künstler is sending a strong message, based on an calm, unagitated musical arrangement. “You are not alone” – not only in regards that somebody does care about you, but also that people share similar problems. A great one.
6. Das Leben hier vermissen
Das Leben hier vermissen was the only Florian Künstler song, which lead my Songs of the Week in 2024. In the 20th December edition, this song about moving somewhere else and leaving a chapter of your life behind, simply fascinated me. It has been used in the soundtrack of the movie Das Leben ist jetzt – die Real Life Guys. A lovely write, which perfectly fits into the Florian Künstler song portfolio.
7. Ey du da oben
Compared to the songs before, Ey Du Da Oben (“Hey, you up there”) is comparably rocking and rhythmic. The song is about the struggle of losing a beloved person surprisingly. A great write and very impressing track
(“Hey you up there
I have a question
Maybe you bring her back to me
Just for a few days
I have never been in your houses
I ever folded my hands
And if I would have done it – could I keep you then?
I will always remember you, you are missing here”)
8. Mensch zu sein
Mensch zu sein closes the block of already released songs. The song is asking to work more together as humankind. Künstler is asking Sag, wie weit
Woll’n wir auseinandergehen, bis es uns zerreißt? – “Say, how far shall we diverge, until we split?”. A comparably dramatic plot, which is also reminding not to fall back in darker parts of history.
9. Krokodilstränen
It is hard to translate the German term Krokodilstränen into English. Literally, it means “Crocodile Tears”, it rather means something like “false tears”. The song is about finally managing to leave a toxic relationship. The ninth track of Du bist nicht allein comes with a nice pop-ish rhythm and some lighter elements – even though the general character ist rather energetic.
10. Völlig ok
The tenth song is one of the most beautiful writes of the record in my point of view. It is about being on a darker point in life. You just don’t want to hear all these phrases like “It will be better soon”. Instead, Künstler is accepting the situation and states Es ist völlig okay (“It is completely fine”). A nice way of having an optimistic (and realistic) view on a bad situation.
11. Papa
Heut erzähl’ ich stolz, dass ich dein Sohn bin (“Today, I am telling proudly that I am your son”) – this eleventh track is a lovely ballad praising all the effort Künstler’s foster father put into him. The song is a very personal and intimate write, with lyrics like Meinen ersten Vater hab’ ich nie gekannt (“I never knew my first father”). Finally, he is asking back Papa, bist du stolz auf mich?. Amazing one.
12. Salz in der Luft (feat. Wilhelmine)
The twelfth song is a duet with the Berlin-origin German musician Wilhelmine. The song is about a day at a lonely beach, just enjoying by yourself and the Salz in der Luft (“Salt in the Air”). A really nice, rhythmic one.
13. Stille
Ich kann mit Stille nicht gut umgehen (“I cannot deal well with silence”) are the first words of the thirteenth track. A song which is about all the influences you have nowadays – and having no noise feels frightening. The song comes with a really nice arrangement, including strings. A song which strikes after the second, third listen.
14. Kein Kind der Welt
This song is on the one hand reflecting childhood memories, but rather looking forward. One day, he will be without his foster parents. He states Ich glaub’ kein Kind der Welt ist je dafür bereit – “I feel that no child on Earth is ever ready for that”. Songs like these make Florian Künstler’s songbook so incredibly special.
15. Ich wie du
After this thoughtful moment, Ich wie Du is a rhythmic, positive song about love again. Künstler sings Du tickst wie ich und ich wie du – “You work like me and I like you”. A song about harmony and being in a very supportive relationship. The slightly rocking style turns this one into a really nice listen.
16. Kommst du nach Hause
Kommst du nach Hause (“Are you coming home”) surprises with a very pop-ish and rhythmic style. The song is about having a debate in a relationship, not sure whether it is sensible to come back home. But your partner is asking you to come back home – and to discuss the situation. A really nice song about a typical situation in life.
17. Vergänglichkeit
According to the title, the last track of Du bist nicht allein is about “Evanescence”. The good things in life are coming to end. The song is about to enjoy these moments. At the end of the chorus, Künstler thinks “Maybe it is just that lovely as it is not staying forever”. What a beautiful way to close his album.

Florian Künstler – Du bist nicht allein – My View
I was really looking forward to this album. All the singles I have heard from Florian Künstler before felt very striking and came with a lovely, personal spirit. The focus on Du bist nicht allein is on the stories. The artist is an outstanding storyteller. And so is the album. I love it.
