My Songs of the Week fascinate me not too rarely by myself. I collect potential candidates for the playlist and release radar the weeks before – and on Friday, there is a set of song, which might have a very different character than the one the week before. This week, for example, you might hate my list of new song releases if you are not into rock and hard rock. There are quite a lot hard guitars in here this week. But the second half of this post has some fine and gentle tunes as well.
Royale Lynn – Sacrifice
You don’t feel too much any more that Royale Lynn is having a country music background. She is currently supporting Seeher and Skillet on their US tour as well. However, I just like her style and her voice – and thus, the US-American artist makes it to the top of my list of releases this week.
Tetrach – Live Not Fantasize
The second song of this week is from the United States as well. Tetrach are from Atlanta, where they have been founded in 2007. The metalcore and new metal band has released two albums so far. Good one.
The Headlines – Pirate Signal
I featured the punk rockers from Malmö in Sweden rather recently, in my 24th August 2024 Songs of the Week. Pirate Signal is the second song release from their upcoming album. I look forward to that one.
All Time Low & I Prevail – Hate This Song
Pop punk (All Time Low) meets metalcore (I Prevail) – this collaboration definitely feels very interesting. I hope you hate that song – I just cannot agree to these lyrics. I love them.
Deep Sea Diver – Billboard Heart
The indie-rock band from Seattle just made it into this posting before I closed the list. Their song Billboard Heart is just too catching. Hope you enjoy it, too.
Father John Misty – Screamland
Fahter John Misty is the alter ego of Joshua Michael Tillman, who is originally from Maryland. His straight and often a bit of satirical songs made him popular all over the world. His 2018 album God’s Favorite Customer, for example, was in the Top 20 charts of the USA, Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. In November, he will release his new album Mahashmashana.
OUDi – RIP Summer
OUDi are an alternative pop band from Nashville. Days are getting colder and darer – so that I feel that the title of this very gentle tune is a perfect fit. Enjoy listening!
Fannie x Sido – Easy
The Berlin collaboration of Fanny and Sido prevents that this would have been likely the first Songs of the Week edition without any German artist Their modern pop – rap duet is a really nice catch.
Udo Jürgens – Als ich fortging
On 30th September, Udo Jürgens would have celebrated his 90th birthday. However, the Austrian schlager legend died in 2014, I recently visited his grave at the Vienna Central Cemetery. Nonetheless, there is quite a lot going on about him currently – there will for example be a tribute show in major arenas next year. His posthum song release Als ich fortging did not make it on his 1985 Treibjagd album – now it is shared with the public.
Ziggy Alberts – Where Does The Love Go?
Ziggy Albers is waving the Australian flag in this posting. Where Does The Love Go? is also teasing his new album New Love, which is expected for release in February 2025. Nice singer-songwriter song.
Andrew Bird & Madison Cunningham – Crying In The Night
I recently received the promo to the 18th October 2024 album release by Madison Cunningham and Andrew Bird. It is simply named Cunningham Bird. This week, the duo released the opener of that album – which is already promising.
