Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 9th May 2025)

Rock of Ages in Bremen, ice hockey in Stockholm and maybe (not yet confirmed) a concert in Cologne – I am having a quite intense weekend this time. Maybe, this is why I went for a rather energetic and rocking Songs of the Week episode this time? Maybe it is also just the selection of tracks available for my new song release radar. Here is my post of the week of 9th May 2025.

Nestor – In The Name Of Rock’n’Roll

The leading song this week is also the one on my list which has been released the earliest. The Swedish hard rockers Nestor released their In The Name Of Rock’n’Roll on Tuesday already. If you are a 1980’s person and a rock guy like me, you will love it as well as I do. Amazing song!

Nevertel – Criminal

The US-American alternative rockers Nevertel are from Tampa. With Criminal, they are also teasing their new album Start Again, which will be released on 12th September 2025. A really energetic appetizer with a touch of nu-metal.

Avril Lavigne feat. Simple Plan – Young and Dumb

The third song on my list this week is an all-Canadian co-recording. Avril Lavigne paired up with Simple Plan to record Young and Dumb. The song might be on the list of songs for the upcoming Greatest Hits Tour, which the two acts are doing together in North America.

Bryan Adams – Never Ever Let You Go

Another Canadian act is right next: just some two weeks ago, Bryan Adams played a very special concert, being the first big international act playing at the brand-new Vid Tjarnir arena in Torshavn. That’s the place where I recently saw the Faroe Islands vs. Netherlands handball match. In August 2025, Adams will release a new album.

Picture This – A Thousand Times

The Irish band Picture This are going to play quite a bunch of festivals in summer. A new EP is in the pipeline as well. Songs like their new one A Thousand Times almost guarantee a fun time with them in summer.

Tom Grennan – Full Attention

British Tom Grennan released his new song Full Attention this week. I really like his uptempo, rhythmic, modern style. There is a touch of Robbie Williams in this song. A new album will be released in August 2025.

Calum Hood – Call Me When You Know Better

The only time I featured Calum Hood so far, was as part of 5 Seconds of Summer. I featured the Australian band in my September 2022 review of the 5SOS5 album. Hood is still member of the band, but will release a solo album soon. ORDER chaos ORDER is scheduled for 13th June 2025.

Chriu – Fernweh

Fernweh is the second appearance of Austrian musician Chriu in my Songs of the Week. In my 18th November 2022 edition, the artist from Tyrol made it as well with Wieder Dezember. His new single comes with a cool drive and present beats.

Bunch of Ace – Maybe Next Time

It is already the fifth time the German pop-rock twins make it to my Songs of the WeekMaybe Next Time is another song teasing their debut album No Trouble. Another really well done song!

Mark Ambor – Who Knows

Mark Ambor is a 1997-born singer-songwriter from Pleasantville in New York state. Especially his single Belong Together has been very successful in Europe and gained platinum status in Austria, Switzerland, the U.K. (double platinum) as well as in his home country. Who Knows has already been part of his live shows – now he is also having a studio version of it. Great one!

Cosby – Endless Blue

Cosby sounds that much like an international act, but in fact they are a German band from Munich. This year, they took part in the German qualifications for the Eurovision Song ContestEndless Blue is a lovely summer track with the typical Cosby vibes.

Lea Lustenberger – Glaub mir kein Wort

Lea Lustenberger is a Swiss pop singer-songwriter from Zurich. This song is in standard German, but she is also recording in Swiss German and English. The ease of the chorus is striking, even though the song overall is rather melancholic.

Volxpop – Je m’appelle Maria

The Austrian band have recently performed some lineup changes. With their party schlager hit Je m’appelle Maria, they are coming back in style. This one could become a summer fun hit.
