Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 14th February 2025)

I had a quite frustrating week. My accreditation requests for four photography events, three sports reports an one concert, have not been successful, three of them without any reply. Thus, I struggled a bit to create sufficient contents. I finally decided to have no content on Wednesday afternoon to compensate for it. This weekend will be very busy with a total of five live coverage reports, including a short concert trip to London. Here is my list of best new (non-country) songs of the Valentine’s Day week 2025. This week’s list is full of love, somehow.

Michael Lane – Our Love

The German-US-American artist born in Nuremberg makes it to my Songs of the Week again – and this time, he is on top. I already featured three albums of Michael Lane in my reviews, Memories (2023), Take It Slow (2022) and Traveling Son (2019). His folk singer-songwriter style gentle love song feels like the perfect match for this week. It’s already his eighth appearance in my new release radar, wow.

James Arthur – Embers

Any of the five studio albums by James Arthur so far made it to the Top 3 of the British album charts. The singer-songwriter from Middlesbrough in England released Embers this week. A(nother) beautiful, touching song.

Crosby – I’m Still Here

Cosby is a alternative pop/rock band from Munich. In I’m Still Here, singer Marie Kobylka processes the death of her father. This leads to an impressing, touching listen. Great one. The band will also compete at the German Eurovision Song Contest qualification.

Herman Rarebell & Friends – What About Love?

One of my favorite songs this week is this rock song. Former Scorpions drummer Herman Rarebell invited a couple of musical friends friends to cover the heart original. Some of his “friends” are Black Sabbath bassist Bob Daisley and Casanova singer Michael Voss.

PUP – Hallways

The next track on my list is Hallways by the Toronto-based punk rock band PUP. In May, the Canadians will head to Europe and tour around until the end of the month.

dali – Nachtzug nach Wien

The Austrian capital Vienna is somehow in focus of Flyctory.com this week. On Tuesday, I took you to the famous Vienna Ferris Wheel, on Wednesday, I had a preview on Andreas Dorau’s new album Wien, themed about the city. Now the Berlin-based artist is taking us on a “Night Train to Vienna”. A lovely alternative rock track.

Michael Kaeshammer – Underdog

Canadian pianist Michael Kaeshammer was born in 1977 in Oldenburg in Germany, but went to Canada in teenage years. He has released numerous albums since 1996. This year, he will also have an extensive tour through his birth country.

Riku Rajamaa & Stanfour – Back Again

Just two weeks ago, in the 31st January 2025 Songs of the Week, the Northern German band Stanfour lead my song selection wth their single Stay. Now, they are back, collaborating with former Sunrise Avenue member Riku Rajamaa. A lovely Finnish-German collaboration.

Linda Hesse – Ein gebrochenes Herz

How could a Songs of the Week posting be without some schlager on Valentine’s Day? Linda Hesse released my favorite song of that genre this week. The artist from Halberstadt sings about “A broken heart”.

Imran – Nobody Knows

Imran is a German producer from Hanover, who is also known as Abaz. This week, he released the dance pop track Nobody Knows. A good soundtrack for your next party.
