The first full week of November definitely kicks off the album season of the year. I have been loaded with new releases of the weekend and had to strictly limit my reviews, also due to the concert coverage of Stephen Wilson Jr. and Koe Wetzel this week. This time, my single release radar of the week definitely leans towards cozy season sounds. Hope you enjoy this new episode of my Songs of the Week.
Nino de Angelo – Irgendwann im Leben
The German schlager artist with Italian roots is looking back to his life – and values living much over having fame and luxury. A great, personal song – there are even slight rock and country vibes in this track. I absolutely love this track.
Beyond Frequencies – Feel
This week’s edition of my Songs of the Week are not at all rocking, so that I felt that the new Beyond Frequencies songs fits in best in here. Great song by the Swiss band.
Gankino Circus – Das Gegenteil
The first three songs of my release radar couldn’t be more different. Gankino Circus is a band from Franconia in Germany. They typically rather do folk music, this song has a cheeky touch of punk and indie-pop, though. More than that: this song is a a lot of fun to listen, coming with a catching rhythm. Enjoy!
Fil Bo Riva – I’m Fine (Alone Again)
Fil Bo Riva is an Italian pop artist from Rome. In September 2024, he released his latest album Modern Melancholia. This single release also expands the album to an Expanded Edition. I don’t like this piece-by-piece music release strategy – but the song is really cool.
Kelvin Jones – All Day
The Zimbabwean–British artist living in Germany released a new song this week. All Day is a track with the typical Kelvin Jones groove, even though the background choir and brass instruments add a nice touch. In two weeks, he will release his third studio album.
Sonia Liebing – Sag ihr nichts von mir
It’s already almost a year ago since I featured the album Liebe ist für alle da by German schlager artist Sonia Liebing. This week, she released Sag ihr nichts von mir – and it is another really nice one by the Cologne artist.
Y We Try – Dezember Moon
This part of the year is also the season for new Christmas song releases. This song is a beautiful, gentle song by Y We Try, which is a project by Swiss musician Tobias Frey. It also works out as a romantic listen. Nice!
Nana Falkner – Bühne aus Beton
Nana Falkner is an Austrian singer-songwriter from Vienna. Her new song Bühne aus Beton (“Stage made out of concrete”) is a praise of her home town. A beautiful, very personal and gentle listen. Great one!
Mars Saibert – Ich leg die ganze Welt in deine Hände
Düsseldorf-born Marcel Richard Mars Saibert is especially known as actor in the daily soap Unter Uns, which he was part of between 2005 and 2010. However, he is also a remarkable musician. For example, he competed in the 2017 edition of The Voice of Germany. His new one is a beautiful ballad dedicated to his little daughter.
Lucy Clearwater & Lemony Rug – All These Words
The last song on my list is a collaboration of US American artist Lucy Clearwater and Hamburg-based Lemony Rug. A beautiful, gentle folk music duet finishing my posting with a lot of harmony.
