Quite a short list this time – as a couple of releases I got simply did not meet my criteria. For example, songs are promoted now, which have already been published before etc. Still, there is a wide range of songs – and some funny entries as well. So I hope that you have a lot of good entertainment.
Annis Rallis – Ena Asteri
Annis Rallis, a British actress with Greek ancestors, released her debut single this week. I know from the German Rock of Ages tour 2023, but she also played other major stage shows like Dirty Dancing or Dance of the Vampires. The title is Greek and means “A Star” – the song itself, however, is a beautiful English pop ballad with a folk touch.
Antitype – Man On The Moon
The Hamburg band Antitype is typically rather known for smashing rock and and grunge songs. In their new song they (once again) underline that rockers are the best for emotional music. Lovely track.
ISAAK – Word by Word
Isaak (Guderian) became widely known in Europe this year, when he finished the Eurovision Song Contest with the twelfth spot. The artist, who has an Icelandic mother, released the beautiful Word by Word this week. I just had to add it to the playlist.
Tors – Never Give Up
The British indie-folk trio folk released the first single from their upcoming EP this week. The release for that one is scheduled for February 2025. I definitely enjoyed this appetizer.
Halsey – Ego
Halsey represents the USA in my Songs of the Week this time. You don’t have to say too much about this artist, she is simply doing amazing music and feels to have one hit song after another. Ego will be successful again, I’m sure.
Samu Haber – Hollywood Heels
This week, Finnish Samu Haber is not taking you on the Hollywood Hills (like he did with his former band Sunrise Avenue), but sings about the Hollywood Heels. A nice pop song with a good mood feeling.
Sophia – Ich packe meinen Koffer
Ich packe meinen Koffer und ich glaub, ich nehm‘ nur Dich mit (“I am packing my suitcase and I feel I just take you with me”) is maybe one of the most catching statements of the week. The German artist is doing great, modern pop tracks. I love this one – I hope you do so, too. The song is released in parallel to her new album Wenn es sich gut anfühlt.
Mike Krüger – Bodo mit dem Bagger (Jubiläums-Mix)
Forty years ago, German comedy singer-songwriter released the song Bodo mit dem Bagger, which turned out to become one of his greatest hits. Now is he is coming up with an updated version. I just could not say no to this one – and had to add it to my release radar.
Heavysaurus – Heavy Halloween
Heavysaurus is a very interesting – and quite successful – German band. They do metal, majorly in German – focussing on kids. This week, it’s getting a bit of scary, but I felt it is a good time to open the Halloween season.
