Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 23rd August 2024)

Time for another episode of my Songs of the Week. This time, there is a fine mix of different genres again, lead by a very interesting British artist. Hope you enjoy my new release selection.

Myles Smith – Wait For You

It’s already the second time the English songwriter is leading my Songs of the Week this year. In my 10th May edition, I featured his song Stargazing. This week, he is back with Wait For You. Another really nice listen. Thumbs up!

Solarkreis – Spring

I definitely have to go back to Graz in Austria soon again. Not only because I have a lovely friend – Styria is simply beautiful. Solarkreis are a nine member band from this city – and they do pop music in local dialect. They already have two platinum singles in their home country – and this song has the potential to add quite some successful stories to the band history. A party pop track with brass sounds.

Jeden Tag Silvester – Paradies

Jeden Tag Silvester is a Northern German band, which originally started as a cover band. Earlier this year, they released their most recent album Foto. Now they are back with Paradies – a lovely pop-rock song.

blink-182 – No Fun

blink-182 released two singles this week, which are in fact extending their 2023 On More Time… album. The San Diego band somehow sound like in the 1990’s, when the band has been founded. But why should you change a winning team – or a chart-winning band style? They are simply good.

The Headlines – Homewrecker

The Headlines add the hardest sounds to my song selection this week. The punk rock band from Malmö in Sweden released Homewrecker – and I feel it is a really catching one. In October, they tour Sweden, Germany, Austria and Switzerland on their Homewrecker tour.

Lucifer Xo – Hals über Kopf

In May 2024, Lucifer Xo announced a six stage tour through Germany in January 2025. This song might be a good party track during that occasion. Nice, modern German pop song.

Simon Jela – Dancing on The Line

Simon Jela is originally from the East of Frankfurt. However, the artist recently relocated to Berlin and now focuses on his musical career. Songs like this pop track definitely make you feel that this has been a wise choice.

Melissa Naschenweng – Michl mit der Sichl

Yeah, the lyrics of that one (“Mike with the sickle”) are not the most complex ones. But I just have a crush for these Austrian-party-rock-schlager artists. And Melissa Naschenweng is definitely one of the finest artists of her country. Finally, this track makes me small and move to the vibes. So I just have to add this one to my list of new releases as well.

Nino de Angelo & Jenice – Willst Du mit mir gehn

Nino de Angelo and Jenice will have a couple of tour stops together later this year. Maybe that’s a great opportunity to join forces on stage as well? The German schlager and pop legend is collaborating Germany’s most beautiful schlager artist (as a yellow press newpaper named Jenice) – and it is a good one!

Raum27 – Meer

Meer is the first single of Raum27’s sophomore album Keine Tränen, which will be released on 7th February 2025. The duo from Bremen peaked 29th in the German charts with their debut album Anfangen Anzufangen. There will also be a headliner tour in 2025.
