My trip through the United States following the Pittsburgh Penguins in eleven days was definitely the highlight of my week. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the wide range of new music releases-. Even though I had to skip some really interesting stuff in regards of capacities, I feel it is a very nice range of tracks in my week of 18th March 2022 edition of my Songs Of The Week. The list unfortunately became rather short as I received multiple songs which are named to be released this week, but in fact have been released a month ago or earlier.
Eli Melinda – Mach die Augen auf
I am quite surprised that the song is marketed as German schlager. I would definitely rather see it as a German pop song. A powerful track by the multi-talented artist, who studied in London.
Hedda Mae – Rhythm to Myself
In my Songs of the Week category, there are quite frequent appearances by Norwegian artists. This happy pop track is by Hedda Mae from Bergen. The 22 year old creates a really cool sound here, I feel.
MUNA – Anything But Me
Another pop track, but a bit more touching the rock and alternative genres: MUNA is a female trio based in Los Angeles. They already have quite a fan base in the USA and the United Kingdom.
Weezer – A Little Bit of Love
Another song, another Los Angeles band: not only because they worked with Weird Al Yankovic, I really like Weezer. They are working towards a new album release – and this alternative rock one sounds really promising to me.
Amber Van Day – Good Morning
WTF was a golden record for Amber Van Day in Germany and Austria in 2019, alongside Hugel. Thereafter, the artist did not really could connect to it. Good Morning is a nice new song by the British artist.
Junipa Gold – Who’s Gonna Pay The Price
Junipa Gold are an Austrian indie-rock formation. Mia Berchthold is lead singer of the band and creates a very grooving, soulful style in this new release. I really enjoy the listen.
Yours Truly – Lights On
The Australian band Yours Truly already released their new song Lights On at the beginning of the week. Really nice modern rock / alternative rock sound from Sydney.
Mavis Staples & Levon Helm – You Got To Move
Last, but not least, this beautiful piece of musical work, full of soul and blues flavor – and a bit of rock’n’roll. A bit of old-fashioned, but just in a lovely way.
