I had a very tough business trip to Paris this week. Nonetheless, I somehow managed to compile this list of new releases, which again covers a wide range of tunes. Hope you enjoy my Songs of the Week, which are kicking off with a debut.
Noleen – Somewhere Safe
Unfortunately, I don’t know too much about this young German artist – apart from that Somewhere Safe is her debut single. Such a shame, it is such a good song, would love to tell you more about her…
Henry And The Waiter – Child
This one is another catchy pop song. Henry And The Waiter has been active since 2017. He is from Frankfurt. A really nice song with a present beat and groove.
Hope Tala – Shiver
British artist Hope Tala released Shiver this week. The native London lady had some quite successful songs already and even made it on Barrack Obama’s summer playlist this year. Her headline show in her home town in mid October is already sold out. A fine song with lovely vocals.
Yvonne Catterfeld – In Between
German artist and actor Yvonne Catterfeld is such a fascinating musician. Her range of songs is so versatile. This week she released the groovy dance pop song In Between. And she makes me move to her music. Hope you have a dancefloor feeling as well.
Charlien – Sag lieber nichts
This week, I again for some German schlager tracks. The first one is Sag lieber nichts (“Better say nothing”) by Charlien. The Austrian artist reached some remarkable milestones recently and especially has a decent fan base in her home country.
Ben Zucker – Da vorne ist noch Licht
Whenever there is a new Ben Zucker song, there is a chance for a Songs of the Week nomination. His new one, Da vorne ist noch Licht is no exception. It’s just a little while until Zucker is back on stage. Hope there will be shows together with Lindsay Ell one day again.
Alexander Eder – Der allerletzte Tanz
Another artist who is frequently fascinating me is Alexander Eder. This time the Austrian is taking us to Der allerletzte Tanz (“The very final dance”). Expectedly, his song strikes again as much as his characteristic voice is doing anyway.
Wankelmut x The Gardener & The Tree – Hungry
This one is a very interesting pop collaboration. Wankelmut is a German DJ and producer from Berlin, who had his first successful songs more than a decade ago. This week he released Hungry, a collaboration with The Gardener & the Tree. The Swiss band is typically doing indie-folk. However, this song is a great one out of their typical scope.
Stack – Tourbus
My list of new songs is heading towards rock. Stack state “We are sitting in the tour bus. We have no idea how many people are coming”. The punk rock band is from Munningen in Bavaria. The song is a lovely song having an ironic, but really cool view on the typical tour life of a smaller band. Great one.
Lansdowne – Here To Say
Lansdowne is a rock band from Boston. The US-Americans released the lovely rock song Here To Say this week. The song is here and there leaning towards hard rock. However, it comes with a really cool style.
U2 – Country Mile
Two big names of the international music scene close my list this time. First of all, there is U2. The Irish formation around singer Bono released Country Mile this week and it is as high class as you would expect them to deliver.
Shakira – Soltera
The Columbian artist Shakira is doing Shakira things – that’s how I would sum up her latest single release. Soltera is simply a good song – why should she do things differently?
