I had a rather mixed week this week – and that’s somehow my new Songs of the Week edition is like. There is quite a wide span of songs and genres in my list of new releases this time. But I have to say: I really like all of them. Hope you have some nice tracks for your next week or your playlist in here as well.

 

Noleen – Killer

I loved Noleen’s debut single Somewhere Safe, which made it to the top of my 27th September 2024 Songs of the Week. This Friday, she released her sophomore single Killer – and made it to the top again. A great and catchy rock song by the teenage German artist from Dirmingen, whose civil name is Lena Herrmann. Love it!

 

Symphony of Sweden – Get Lost In The Feeling

What’s a better way than naming a symphonic rock band from Sweden “Symphony of Sweden”? The band around Linus Lee Wester and Pontus Evan Hagberg has already released three albums, even though they have been founded in 2020. This one makes me hope for more songs from them.

 

Turnstile – Never Enough

Turnstile are a hardcore punk quintet from Baltimore. They have been nominated thrice already for the Grammy Awards. This week, they released their new song Never Enough – and I really like it!

 

Green Day – Smash It Like Belushi

This one made me smile from the very beginning. The US-American rock band has been founded almost 40 years ago, in 1987 – and still, just after five seconds of listening to Smash It Like Belushi, you absolutely feel that this is a Green Day song. They simply definited a signature sound – and they are still close to it.

 

Lorena – Love Me Or Leave Me

German rock artist Lorena is also more and more becoming a regular part of my Songs of the Week. Her Love Me Or Leave Me is already the third song in a row which makes it into my new release selection. And it is another really good one.

 

Mo-Torres – schönso.

Cologne artist Mo-Torres was initially rather known as a rapper. However, nowadays, he is rather doing pop song. Schönso comes with a nice flavor of rock as well.

 

Kingfishr – Gloria

Kingfishr are a folk-rock band from Limerick in Ireland. They are active since 2017. They are very popular in their home country. They already sold out a 3Arena show in Dublin in December and had to add an extra date. Their summer 2025 tour through Ireland and Northern Ireland is also more or less sold out.

 

Danny & the Veetos – Home is Where You Are

With Alright, the Faroese band Danny & the Veetos had a song which spread far wider than the friendly archipelago. However, this is nine years ago and the band stopped releasing music in 2018. Now, they are back with Home is Where You Are – and it is a really lovely sound again.

 

Dean Lewis – I Hate That It’s True

Australian singer-songwriter has already appeared in my Songs of the Week six times. I Hate That It’s True is his seventh appearance. And I still love his sound. He will soon tour North America – some of the shows are already sold out. In summer, he will also play some European shows.

 

LINA – Sie weiß (Betty Draper)

LINA aka Lina-Larissa Strahl became big in Germany as a teenage artist. Her new song Sie weiß (Betty Draper) feels very mature. A nice dance pop song with a present beat.

 

Florentina – küss mich

With songs like Delulu and I Hate You, I Love You, the pop artist Florentina from Mannheim already had some really successful releases. Her new song (the title translates to “Kiss Me” is a nice upbeat track, which will lead to some dancing action in Germany, indeed.

 

Julezz – Geträumt von Dir

I really liked the schlager releases of this week. The first artist of this genre I feature is Julezz, who once became famous in a TV show about expats. A nice track which is well made for having fun.

 

Beatrice Egli – Hör nie auf damit

I recently added the 2026 tour dates of Swiss schlager artist Beatrice Egli to my Tour Date Overview. Until we can “Dance, Laugh, Live” (that’s the translated title of her tour title), we can have some fun with her new release.

 

Rebecca Fox – Don’t break my heart

This song would have been a blast forty years ago as well. The press kit of the debut single by Rebecca Fox states that the song is a fusion of nostalgic 1980’s vibes, combined with modern synth sounds. I have to say: this one is so 80’s. Like a rebirth of legendary C.C. Catch. I absolutely love it.

 

Sano Black – Believe

Sano Black is a composer and singer-songwriter, based in Augsburg in Germany. This week, he shared some pop fun with his new song Believe. I really liked it.

 

Timsen – Instagram

There are more and more reasons to look forward to Timsen’s debut album Vun Hier, which is going to be released soon. The latest is Instagram. He praises the Northern German coast (in the regional Low German dialect) and states that “he has never been on Instagram” in the lyrics. By the way, his account there has more than 16k followers. He will play the heavy metal festival Wacken this year. Even though his music is slightly out of the genre played there, I am sure the people will have a blast.

 

Kaurna Cronin – Mental Vacation

I close my Songs of the Week this time with another song from Australia. The indie-folk artist released one of the most beautiful songs I listened to this week. He will tour Europe, majorly Germany, in summer.
