Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 23 September 2022)

Even though there are quite a bunch of German (language) songs and German artists in the set of new releases this time, I feel it is a nice, wide range of tracks. There is metal as well as jazz, schlager als well as rap. Just a nice set of good songs, regardless of the genre (apart from country music, which I feature in dedicated playlists). Enjoy my Songs of the Week as of 23rd September 2022.

Ben Zucker – Was ich will, bist Du (Ohne Dich)

Ben Zucker has been quite a topic in my recent interview with Lindsay Ell – now the German schlager-rock artist is back with a new single. I like it – and make him lead my weekly selection of songs.

Joshville – Immer Wieder Du

The press kit to this song states a magazine that Joshville unifies the hearts of German country music listeners and schlager listeners. I unfortunately cannot agree. His new track Immer Wieder Du is a(nother) straight schlager track to me. Still a nice one with a good arrangement.

Renate – Vorstadtprinz

The third track is the new single by the 41 year old Austrian schlager artist Renate. There is just a slight touch of Austrian accent in this song. Nice touch, Renate has quite some popularity in her home country.

Melisa Carolina – Jede Nacht

Melisa Carolina has Cuban and Turkish roots and lives in Germany. She gained some popularity in Germany after winning the 2015 edition of The Voice Kids. The 20 year old artist is working independently. Nice pop track.

Sido – Versager

“Don’t call me a looser, that’s only how my father is calling me” – these are the fist words of Sido’s new song, Versager. Very nice, deep lyrics by the German rapper. Not my genre, but a really great, impressive song, which absolutely deserved to be in this playlist.

Anna of the North – Nobody

Anna of the North will release a new album on 4th November. Nobody is the first feature by the Norwegian artist. Promising sound.

Börni – Overdose

Her song I’m Alive lead my Songs of the Week at the 29th July edition – here is a new single by the Swiss pop artist. Very nice, groovy and modern sound.

KC & the Sunshine Band feat. Bimbo Jones – Unconditional Love

The legendary band from Miami meets a remix producer – the result is this remix between pop and funk. How could I dare not to present it to you?

Dennis Lloyd – Berlin

The Israeli artist Dennis Lloyd presented his new single Berlin this week. An alt-pop song with house vibes.

Massive Wagons – Please Stay Calm

I received the album Triggered! by Massive Wagons this week. Release date will be end of October. Until then, you have to warm up with the single release appetizers. Like Please Stay Calm. Enjoy listening to the British rockers.

Skid Row – Time Bomb

Just a short wait until The Gang’s All Here by the New Jersey metal quintet Skid Row. Time Bomb is definitely a good reason to look forward to this listen.

Disturbed – Unstoppable

The hardest metal sounds this week’s songs are coming from Disturbed this week, no doubt. The Chicago-origin band released the thumbing Unstoppable. Great one.

Santiano – Die Antwort weiß der Wind

A new track by the shanty-alike German folk band, who has massive success in their home country. Die Antwort weiß der Wind (“The answer knows the wind”) nicely shows how easy and catchy their songs are.

Adel Tawil – Niemandsland

Adel Tawil has been very successful in German-speaking countries with bands and collaborations like Ich + Ich as well as with solo releases. His latest album Alles lebt has been released more than three years ago, though. Maybe Niemandsland is a first step towards a new album.

Y’urs – Breaking Through

Y’urs is solo project by Ursula Burkart. The beautiful Breaking Through is the new single release by the Stuttgart-origin artist.

They Called Me Phoebe – Cherry Nut Macaroons

The person behind the artist name is a Hamburg-origin singer-songwriter. She released the beautiful acoustic pop song Cherry Nut Macarrons this week. Great listen.

Karo Lynn feat. Johanna Amelie – elephant

A few weeks ago, I received a single by the Leipzig-origin artist Karo Lynn. Honestly, I did not really know how to deal with it and finally did not present it to you. Now I ran into her new single, elephant, and I absolutely loved it. Makes me look forward to her album a line in my skin, which will be released on 25th November 2022.

JP Saxe – When You Think Of Me

The second last track this week is performed by the Canadian artist JP Saxe. He already had quite some global success with his single If the Wold was Ending in 2019 and recently toured with Alicia Keys. Really nice new track.

Here It Is feat. Gregory Porter – Suzanne

Here It Is is a jazz project, which honoring the songs of Leonard Cohen. The full tribute album, which features artists like Peter Gabriel or Iggy Pop, will be released on CD and digitally on 14th October 2022. Suzanne interpreted with Gregory Porter is the latest teaser of the album. Beautiful listen.
