Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 16th February 2024)

Coming back from the United Arab Emirates and about to head to Malaysia soon – thus, some really interesting experiences are on my bucket list this month. On the Songs of the Week side, I have a nice and wide range of songs this time, kicking off with some more rocking tunes. Hope you enjoy it.

girlfriends – shut up & kiss me

My release radar this week kicks off with a great punk rocker. Girlfriends has been founded in 2019 in Los Angeles. The band is in fact a duo, consisting of Nick Gross and Travis Mills. Despite the rather short band history, they have already released two albums and an EP. Great sound by the US-Americans.

Loveless – Addicted

This week, the rock songs kick off the Songs of the Week again. The band is a duo from Los Angeles as well. California seems to rule in the Valentine’s week.

BlackRain – Revolution

Revolution by BlackRain is a song I absolutely loved while scanning the new releases. A touch of metal, a bit of Southern rock. The French state We are the new revolution. This single release is in fact a re-release of a track they released in 2013, but they gave it a completely new touch. They also announce that there will be an eighth studio album this year.

While She Sleeps – To The Flowers

While She Sleeps is a British metalcore band from Sheffield. Active since 2006, they are about to release their new album Self Hell on 29th March 2024, right in time for your Easter headbang. This single feels very promising.

LustfingeR – Wir feiern unseren Untergang

I just cannot deny that I have a certain crush for LustfingeR, one of the oldest punk rock bands in Germany, from North of Munich. With their new single release, “We celebrate our nemesis”, at least regarding the song title. Hope that this event won’t happen too early.

Robert Grace – Euphoria

Irish Robert Grace released a new song this week as well. Euphoria is a homage to the equivalently titled TV series. Beautiful listen.

Nicky Youre – S.A.D.

In 2022, Nicky Youre had a big summer hit with Sunroof. The single was not only a double platinum release in his home country USA, but also had four platinum records in Australia, Gold in markets like Germany and lead the Canadian charts. Even though the following singles have not been that successful, he is doing great music, ain’t he? By the way, another song from Greater Los Angeles this week.

Hadar Sopher – White Socks

Another artist which really pops up in my song features is Hadar Sopher from Israel. The Tel Aviv-origin artist wrote this song in Los Angeles, though. It is getting a bit of spooky how present the West Coast metropolis is present in this post, ain’t it?

Marina Marx – Steh auf und leb

Marina Marx is opening a block of three German schlager tracks in my this week’s list. Even though Steh auf und leb (“Stand up and live”) starts rather slow, it also has some nice rocking elements. Great song, which also teases the August 2024 album Wahrheit oder Pflicht.

Judy Weiss – Regen in der Nacht

Another schlager release I really loved this week is Regen in der Nacht by Berlin-origin artist Judy Weiss. The song is a single release taken from her 2023 album Alles was zählt.

Jenice – Noch eine Nacht

Model, fitness enthusiast and schlager artist – Franziska Czurratis aka Jenice is more and more boosting her career on different kinds of stages. With Noch eine Nacht, the lady from Dessau released a rather straight schlager-pop song this week.

Dua Lipa – Training Season

I guess I just don’t need to introduce you to the British-Albanian artist Dua Lipa any more. The 28 year old artist won six Brit Awards and three Grammy Awards already. This week, she released her pop track Training Season. Hard to imagine that it won’t be successful.

maja – Falling

Glad to feature a debut single again. Maja is a young adult artist from Rheinberg in the Lower Rhine / Northwest Ruhrgebiet region of Germany. Lovely pop-rock track.

Tune Circus – Dancing In The Dark

Alternative rock from Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg: Robert Reister and Julian Komzmann are active since 2008. They are about to release a new album, Never Mind The Sunrise, on 22nd March 2024. The song is a good teaser.

Sasha Alex Sloan – Highlights

Maybe due to Valentine’s Day this week, there are rather many slow and emotional song releases this week (or: I value them higher…). The Boston-born artist with Russian background received a lot of good critics so far with her two album releases. Beautiful vocal performance.

Ilse de Lange – Tainted

Ilse de Lange is currently touring in her home country Netherlands and will be on German stages in fall. Her latest releases rather move away from country and head towards the pop music direction. A good one.

Nick Howard – Heartbreak

Nick Howard is soon about to kick off his The Next Chapter tour. The Brighton-origin artist is thereby visiting clubs in Germany and the Netherlands. I am sure that this song will be a highlight of the shows.

Rosmarin – merlin

A slow and emotional song from Kassel in Germany – Rosmarin released their new single merlin early this week. Very unique and special listen, I like it.

Francis of Delirium – Give It Back to Me

Francis of Delirium is a very interesting collaboration. The singer, Jana Bahrich, is born in Vancouver an in their early 20’s, while drummer Chris Hewett is from Seattle. They got to know each other as Hewett played in a band with her father. Despite their West Coast background, they met and are based in Luxembourg. Very nice and unique sound. Their debut album Lighthouse will be released on 22nd March 2024.
