Attending a frequent traveler meeting nearby, I had the opportunity to visit the Hampton by Hilton Frankfurt Airport towards the end of 2022. I wanted to explore the airport hotel anyway at a given point and have been happy about that short trip due to that reason. Here is my review.

 

Hampton Frankfurt Airport – Location

The hotel is located in the Gateway Gardens area, where several hotels are located. These hotels are closer to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) Terminal 2. You can walk or take a bus to Terminal 2. Walking distance is 10 to 15 minutes, slightly uphill. The bus is an option especially with a lot of luggage. However, the transfer bus first heads to Terminal 1 and is very crowded. For Terminal 1 transfers, I would even rather opt for the S-Bahn commuter train. The Hampton Frankfurt Airport is located not too far from the Gateway Garden station. From there, trains leave (at the time of writing) every 20 minutes to the Regionalbahnhof (regional train station) of the airport, which is right below the terminal.

There are not too many restaurants outside hotels around the Hampton – but even the hotel restaurants cover quite a range of offers. Furthermore, there is a supermarket around. Last, but not least, you can of course use the facilities offered in the two airport terminals. Travel time from the train station to Frankfurt Main Station is about 12 minutes. The hotel does have a parking garage (and there are some facilities around as well). Parking in the hotel garage is 25 EUR per night.

 

Hampton Frankfurt Airport – Room

My booking was a prepaid, non-refundable rate in December 2022. I’ve booked the Thursday to Friday stay comparably late notice, the Queen Room was 94 EUR. Likely due to my Hilton Honors Diamond Status, I had a really nice room in the corner in the hotel, which was very quiet. The rooms shares a hallway with the room next door, which again share one additional door to enter the rooms. My room was really nice with sufficient space for luggage (if you have one). Overall, it was in line with the modern Hampton design, which especially has the large work desk I really appreciate.

The room was well maintained and clean. The shower bathroom was really nice as well – again, I really like the the new Hampton hotel design. Amenities have been provided by dispensers.

 

Hampton Frankfurt Airport – Breakfast

The complimentary breakfast at the Hampton by Hilton Frankfurt Airport was really nice, compared to the level of the hotel. They had a nice range of items and also the good, old waffle machine. However, breakfast times were strictly from 6:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The hotel even did not switch the lights of the area on before that time strictly, even though the preparations were ready. There were quite a lot of people. This felt really strange – overall, you have this kind of struggle in many airport hotels, of course.

 

Hampton Frankfurt Airport – Service

The welcoming at the hotel was very friendly. Funnily, the receptionist read the welcome message from a screen. You have that here and there in US hotels – but it is rather uncommon in German hotels, including other Hilton Hotels. The internet connection by WiFi was really good. The hotel is also driving a nice and sufficient gym right at reception level.

 

Hampton Frankfurt Airport – My View

The Hampton is a really nice airport hotel. The traffic situation rather turns it to a good option for Terminal 1 to me than for Terminal 2. The breakfast times could be better, but most hotels around are in line with the breakfast times of the Hampton. Especially compared to the terminal hotels, e.g. the Hilton Frankfurt Airport and the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport, the Hampton is significantly cheaper, which might also be a valid argument.
