After I had to skip the whole Friday at the Infosys Hall of Fame Open due to sickness, I was so glad to be back at the courts again on Saturday. Still feeling very weak, I just went for one match coverage on that day, the first men’s singles semifinal played on that day. Especially Reilly Opelka (USA) had done a really good job and using his wildcard to a winning streak up to the semis. He faced his countryman, third-seeded Alex Michelsen. An interesting match-up on Center Court.

Infosys Hall of Fame Open – Opelka vs. Michelsen – Match Report
The match started rather interesting: Michelsen faced two break points against him in the very first game, but finally could take the lead. Especially when four aces meant that Opelka tied the score to 2-2 in the fourth game, the Newport crowd at the well-filled grandstand could expect a really tight and interesting match.
However, the rest of the match can be summed up rather quickly: Opelka lost his line, got permanently into trouble, also at own serve. He had a break point in the fifth game of the match, but that was likely his last open door to a comeback: Alex Michelsen won all ten remaining games, which especially meant that he “bageled” his opponent in the second set. He finally won 6-2 6-0.
