Run & Fly Meeting Dortmund 2025 – Field Events

Back to the Helmut-Körnig-Halle in Dortmund: after I had featured the Sparkassen Indoor Meeting 2024 in the arena next to the iconic soccer stadium Signal Iduna Park, I traveled there again to feature their “smaller” meeting on 8th February 2025. Hosting LG Olympia Dortmund invited to the Run & Fly Meeting, which was one of the last opportunities to qualify for the German Indoor Nationals two weeks later. Here is my report of the field events of the day.

Run & Fly Meeting 2025 – The Field Events

Here are my notes from the field events. The result tables are as of the senior competitors only. The reports will also deal with the junior events which happened in Dortmund as well.

Pole Vault (Men)

The pole vault event was the major of the technical athletics disciplines in Dortmund. There were six groups in three time slots (each time two groups parallel), majorly split by entry height. On the men’s side, Gillian Ladwig (Schweriner SC, Germany) had the best height of the day with 5.50m.

Athlete Meters
1st Gillian Ladwig (GER) 5.50
2nd Hendrik Müller (GER) 5.40
3rd Constantin Rutsch (GER) 5.30

Pole Vault (Women)

The winner of the women’s pole vault was Regine Bakenecker, representing the host club LG Olympia Dortmund. Remarkably, in the Under 20 category, Naya Füllers (TSV Bayer Leverkusen) competed with a maximum height of 4.00m, just as women second placed Jule Glaßner (LG Brillux Münster).

Athlete Meters
1st Regine Bakenecker (GER) 4.20
2nd Jule Glaßner (GER) 4.00
3rd Lea Laux (GER) 3.90

Long Jump (Juniors only)

Run & Fly held the long jump for male and female athletes in the Under 15 and Under 14 category. Belgian Lewis Geuns and local athlete Hannah Fenske won on the girls side. Tim Behovits’ (LG Olympia Dortmund) 5.97 meters were 59 centimeters longer than second-placed Jan Meurer (TSG Bayer Leverkusen at the male Under 15’s. In the male under 14 just four centimeters decided in favor of Paul Jöster (ASV Cologne).

Shot Put (Juniors only)

I just had a brief visit at the juniors shot put, as it is very difficult to cover it indoors. In the male youth, Under 15 category Felix Bäumer (LG Coesfeld, Germany) dominated the competition with 15.66 meters, almost five meters longer than second-best contestant. After winning the long jump, Lewis Geuns also won the Under 15 girls’ shot put (10.85m).
