Women WFCQ – Switzerland – Hungary 22-0 (4-0, 10-0, 8-0)

I have to admit that that I was afraid about that moment. Two of my favorite national teams, the Hungarian Women and the Swiss Woman, faced in Lignano Sabbiadoro faced on 31st January 2025 on 16:00. Even in my wildest dreams, I could not imagine that this battle would turn into a Hungarian victory or a close match. Nonetheless, I looked forward to this match.

This posting comes with a section of 268 major size pictures in a dedicated event section of the sports galleries

Switzerland – Hungary – Match Facts

The match started as expected, with Switzerland taking control from the very first moment.. However, the Hungarian defense was tight, but also rather dynamic. Lara Heini had a rather relaxed day, but the opponents tried again to have turnovers and have fast attacks. The favorite did have some trouble to find the gaps in the Hungarian defense. Seraina Fitzi scored the first goal for Switzerland after eight minutes and even the first intermission score of 4-0 was rather close.

In the second period, the Hungarians more and more lost their faith and concentration. Especially in the last five minutes of the period, when Switzerland scored five times, it also felt very easy to do so. The third period felt a bit better from an Hungarian point of view, when the underdog also had four attempts on goal. This could not prevent the highest score in Italy so far. The favorite team finally won 22-0, which also meant that they finished the group matches without a single goals against them.
