I received so many great albums this week – no chance to process a fair fraction of them. However, the single releases were comparably sparse – on the country side as well as on the non-country music side. Hope I still give you a nice set of songs, which is this time rather pop-ish again.
Aden Foyer – Sunshine Prescription
Aden Foyer is completing his EP The Ballet Girl with these summer vibes. After the Norwegian already had quite some success with the title track (41m Spotify streams so far), this one has a lot of potential. I love it!
Maria Linda – Sommerhaut
My set of songs stays with some summer vibes. This time, however, it is a lovely German schlager track. Already the third time I feature a song by the German-Italian artist in my Songs of the Week.
Sanna Brandt – Brandgefährlich
Another schalger track – however, Brandgefährlich is rather coming with a dance pop rhythm. Enjoy the disco fox beat with Sanna Brandt.
Ochmoneks – Roland Kaiser (Schlager version)
Before I cared about the Songs of the Week, I watched a lot of old snippets of the good, old Alf TV show. What a cool band name to match that. The band is from Dusseldorf and already released this song in the original (punk) rock version – now they add a schlager version to it. A great way to praise the schlager legend with a touch of irony.
Felix Muhr – Brother Louie
Another way of doing tribute to an artist or an act is a cover. Felix Muhr is a teenage artist from Austria – who is covering the Modern Talking classic… With an accordion. Feels like the perfect support act for the next Weird Al Yankovic tour – I love it!
Cosima Kiby – recyclet
Cosma Kiby is a new artist from Munich, who is doing German pop with a touch of rock. She is releasing music since 2021. Great listen.
Thelma Malar – Amazing Things
A touch of pop, a bit of funk and folk – I really enjoyed listening to the very versatile release by German artist Thelma Malar from Berlin. Hope you like it as well.
Diana Ezerex – Same Blood
Diana Ezerex is a German-Nigerian artist, who is just about to release a second EP out of a series of four. The song definitely stays in your mind.
Renee Rapp – Snow Angel
Renee Rapp grew her popularity as a stage and movie actress. However, in November 2022, she released her debut EP Everything to Everyone. Snow Angel is actually the title song of the upcoming album of the US-American. Very unique listen.
Adam Wendler – Everybody’s Getting Famous
Adam Wendler is a Canadian artist, who is nowadays living in Germany. Not too surprisingly, he is having quite a long tour through Germany in summer. Everybody’s Getting Famous will be a great track for that, spreading some summer and surfing vibes.
Greta Van Fleet – Farewell For Now
Starcatcher is the title of the new album by Greta Van Fleet. The Grammy-winning US rockers are going on world tour later this year – the shows in Hamburg and Munich are already sold out. This new single feature is a lovely appetizer for what lies ahead.
Amber Van Day – Deathwish
The list of song closes with Amber Van Day from England. The 27 year old singer-songwriter already wrote for acts like Ava Max, but is nowadays more and more popular as a solo artist as well. Deathwish is a great one.
