  • Lovely vocals
  • Good storytelling

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Slightly monotonous towards the end

I always enjoy running into artists I haven’t covered before. Quite long before the album release of Sunflowers, I found the album on a promotion platform and felt it is worth having a deeper listen. It is the sophomore album of Austrian Maddy Rose, to be released on 26th September 2025.

Maddy Rose – About The Artist

Maddy Rose is the artist name of Austrian jazz and pop singer Magdalena Maria Huber. She is originally from Salzburg, but nowadays lives in Vienna. Her website calls her music vintage pop. The first song she released was Human n 2016. It took her until 2021 to release her debut album Pure. Her most successful song so far is the 2019 release You Ain’t Got Me Waiting.

Maddy Rose – Sunflowers – Track by Track

The ten track album lasts 37 minutes.

1. Anymore

Sunflowers opens with two songs, which the Austrian artist has shared before the album already. The style of Anymore reminds of dream pop, but comes with a more rhythmic style. The drums are very present, which overall pushes the jazz elements of the song more into the background. Anymore is a good starter, coming with interesting twists.

2. Believe

The jazz background of Maddy Rose become more present in the second track. In a gentle, harmonic setting, she is asking Do you believe in love? The strings in the background create a plushy atmosphere, with a slight touch of kitsch. The focus of this track is on her vocals – and that leads to a lovely 3:31 minute listen.

3. Give me a sign

The first previously unreleased track of Sunflowers is GIve me a sign. The song has a ballad-alike character, majorly driven by the strings and the piano in the background. A fine melody presented by lovely vocals. Despite the struggle reflected in the lyrics, the song feels like a perfect one for a snuggle in the colder times of the year.

4. Surrender

Again, Maddy Rose does not need much more than the piano and the strings to create a deep atmosphere. This time, there is a darker touch in her song as well. The voice moves between fine sections and intense parts, which have a slight aria-alike touch. I am overwhelmed by the intensity of this song.

5. Sunflowers

Next on the Austrian’s 2025 album is the title track. After the intense listen before, the track feels fine and intimate. Rose shows a beautiful, fine musical performance. The beauty of Sunflowers is also reflected in lovely storytelling. A very nice one.

6. Let go of me

Let go of me is a song, which is somewhere between jazz, lounge and pop sounds. Don’t wanna loose myself, I’ll never be someone else, Rose strongly states in the lyrics. This time, she is working with a much wider instrumentation in the background. A nice one.

7. Make up your mind

Make up your mind is another single release of Sunflowers. The song has a lovely ease. The happy vibes and the rhythmic signature make you move to the groove of the track. While summertime is slowly fading in real life (at least here in Central Europe), Maddie is still spreading summer vibes in her album. Nice one.

8. Train rides

Train rides can be enjoyable or bothering – listening to Maddy Rose’s song about it is definitely a treat. The gentle piano song, which again contains some string elements and some rhythmic parts, starts slowly, but then gains more and more energy. Rose’s voice stays fine and precise. A really nice one.

9. Breathe

Breathe is already the penultimate song of the album. The style of the track does not add too many surprises to the song. It is indeed a nice ballad, though.

10. Heal

Maddy Rose closes Sunflowers with Heal. The song is another lovely vocal performance by the Austrian, who is finishing with a piano ballad.

I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.

Maddy Rose – Sunflowers – My View

I really enjoyed listening to Maddy Rose. Her vocal quality creates a lot of warmth and harmony and leads to a beautiful listen. There is a certain monotony in the album, unfortunately – even though the album does have some tracks with a different character.

Favorite Song: Give me a sign
