I am beyond excited this week. The Weird Al Yankovic Tour has kicked off this week in Hollywood, Florida, this week – and my health situation feels strong enough to join the party. I have a total of ten shows of the US American comedy musician on my list this year – tomorrow / on Saturday, I will head to North Carolina to have four shows there and in Georgia. Thus, I decided to exceptionally share my Songs of the Week on Friday afternoon already. The list of new releases is a nice set of very different songs, starting with rock music and finishing with a love ballad.
Twin Atlantic – Don’t Quit It
Despite Twin Atlantic is celebrating their twentieth band anniversary next year, Don’t Quit It leads to their first appearance on Flyctory.com. The Scottish alternative rockers from Glasgow have already released seven studio albums. Their new single is my Song of the Week.
April Art – Big Bubble Bullshit
In contrast to that, the German band April Art is a regular guest on my website. For example, I reviewed their 2022 album P.O.K.E.R.F.A.C.E.. A really nice and powerful one.
Tarja ft. Sayo Komada – The Trace Outlives
The Trace Outlives is a very interesting collaboration. The Finnish metal lady Tarja is teaming up with the Japanese musician Sayo Komada. Kamada is famous for playing the shamisen. A treat for rock music fans.
Harsh – Forever Yesterday
Welcome back, Harsh! I featured the French hard rockers and their song Back To Life in my 3rd April 2026 Songs of the Week – and I absolutely love their new song as well. Look forward to more music from them – a new album is already announced.
Kill Strings – Goodbye
I really liked the Kill Strings album Limbo in my review in November 2022. This week, the German duo from Hamburg released Goodbye – and I keep my fingers crossed that the farewell from their music takes some more time. Good one!
Fury In The Slaughterhouse – Fix This Crack
It’s about one month until the Hanover band Fury In The Slaughterhouse is releasing their new album Changes. They will have some open air shows in Germany in summer, including an album release show in their home town. They are a safe choice for rock fans, not only from Germany. Another catching track with the typical Fury touch.
Elfenthal – Passengers
John Kelly and his wife Maite Itoiz are Elfenthal. A very catching symphonic rock track by the US-Irish–Spanish collaboration. Bad luck that the last Elfenthal album, An Ancient Story is already 16 years old. Let’s hope for new songs!
Georg Neumann – Eine in d’Sunn
The last time, I featured Georg Neumann was with a song in English (Better Man in my 14th June 2024 Songs of the Week). With Eine in d’Sunn, the Austrian artist presents a summer hit in his own language (and dialect) this week. A perfect fit to the currently warm temperatures in Europe.
Julia Meladin – Wasser zu Wein
The last two times I featured Julia Meladin, she made it to the top of my Songs of the Week. Kein Geschenk in the 5th December 2025 post and Rosarote Mauer (17th April 2026) are awesome songs. Wasser zu Wein is another great one, but just barely missed the top this time. Nonetheless, I absolute love this energetic pop-rock track by the German artist.
Alexandra Hofmann – Frei wie mit 20
I received a huge number of new schlager tracks this week. However, the vast majority could not please me. However, there is Alexandra Hofmann. Her 2023 album Grün lead to 4.6/5.0 rating – and her new song dealing with the desire for staying young forever is another great treat.
Nancy Su – I varje andetag
Nancy Su is an artist, who is living in Austria. She is an established artist in the schlager and country-schlager scene. However, she is also having a Swedish descent. In the native language of her mother, she released this lovely track (English title “In every breath”) this week. Great one.
Dagny – Rain
In 2020, I reviewed the EP Strangers / Lovers by the Norwegian pop artist Dagny. With Rain, she is warming up her fans for the upcoming album release of Dancefloor Erotica on 12th June 2026. At that day, she will play at the Bergenfest festival in Bergen. A couple of shows and are already on her list for 2026 and 2027 – I am sure they are worth a visit.
Starlight – Smil og Tar
It is already the third time I feature the Faroese folk-rock band Starlight this year. They also won my heart with Dreymaland (3rd April 2026) and Vilt tu vita (1st May 2026). In their new song (“Smile and Take”), they praise a friend, who has passed away.
Damien Cain & Jamie Wiltshire – Caleb
I am closing the post with a heartwarming ballad by Damien Cain and Jamie Wiltshire. Damien is born in the German Ruhrgebiet, but now lives in Ireland. Jamie is a British artist from Cambridge. A beautiful love song.
