The first Songs of the Week in August – is 2026 really coming to an end? I do have some interesting trips ahead of me this month. And I already worked on my Flyctory.com calendar for 2027 – close friends of the project know about that goodie. This week, there were quite some interesting new songs. My selection of new releases starts very rocking, but also has quite a bit in stock for fans of other genres.

 

Crossbone Skully feat. Phil Collen – Thunder Love

Crossbone Skully is a hard rock band lead by US American artist Tommy Henriksen. He played with Alice Cooper or the Hollywood Vampires. His band members include artists like bassist Chris Wyse or keyboarder Jamie Muhoberac, who are members of famous bands of the genre as well. This did not seem being sufficient music celebrity for their new song Thunder Love. They also invited British Phil Collen, guitarist of Def Leppard. These human ingredients simply have to work out well – and thus, they lead my post this week.

 

Def Crüe – Hot Love and Summer Sweat

Def Crüe is a band from Kierling in Austria. They call their music bad ass rock’n’roll on their website. However, their new song Hot Love and Summer Sweat is a lovely and catching glam rock track.

 

Dead Poet Society – Cold

Recently, there have been a lot of interesting announcements by Dead Poet Society. The Los Angeles alternative rock band will share their new album Monarch on 2nd October 2026. In early 2027, the will also tour Europe. Their new song Cold sounds very promising.

 

Kai Hansen – Welcome to Life

Exciting news from Kai Hansen: the Hamburg-origin musician and co-founder of bands like Helloween, Gammy Ray or Iron Savior will be releasing a new album in September. The 18th September 2026 release will be titled Born With A Hammer. This week, he released a great and energetic appetizer, Welcome To Life. Look forward to the next steps.

 

King Loui – Vielleicht

King Loui is a modern rock-pop band from my home town Cologne. The fast and groovy Vielleicht (“Maybe”) praises the city (“Here in Cologne, we all stand together”). A great party track, which will be part of their upcoming album Willkumme em Dschungel (“Welcome to the Jungle”).

 

Alex Warren – Rescuer

Alex Warren is a US American musician from Carlsbad, California. I ran into his new song Rescuer when I checked out a “bulk promotion” featuring multiple songs of his record company without too much additional press information. This lovely track definitely deserves more attention.

 

Leila – Too Tired

Leila is one of the most promising new acts in the Swiss pop music scene. After releasing two EPs, she will share her debut album 20 Something Is a F*cking Strange Place. Quite an interesting title – and her new song is definitely worth listening as well.

 

Semia – Hurricane

Semia is a German pop artist, who is originally from Dortmund, but nowadays lives in Hanover. She is currently working towards her sophomore EP, Glimmer im Nichts. Hurricane is the first single release of it. Very modern, interesting sound.

 

Rea Garvey ft. Imran – Rivers

This one is a surprisingly pop-ish song by Rea Garvey. After the Irish singer-songwriter worked with German Imran (also known as Abaz) as a producer, they now work together as a collaboration. A really nice and enjoyable pop song.

 

BlankWeinek – Freid am Leben

BlankWeinek celebrate the “Joy of Life” this week. The duo consists of the Bavarian artist Harry Blank and Andreas Weinek from Styria, Austria. The song also reflects Blank’s recent experience, who just survived a serious motorcycle accident. A really nice song with folk and singer-songwriter vibes in Southern German / Austrian dialect.

 

Wolfgang Petry – Morgen Gold

In my 19th June 2026 Songs of the Week, I featured Wolfgang Petry’s anniversary edition of Sommer in der Stadt, which also drove the marketing campaign to his new album Ein Leben lang. This week, the Rheinland-origin schlager artist shared Morgen Gold, the first completely new song of this September release. Sounds really promising.
