What an intense time of music on Flyctory.com! I just came back from enjoying Willie Nelson & Family at the legendary grounds of Bethel Woods, NY. On Friday, I released the second post of my weekend, the set by Sheryl Crow – some more posts are yet to come. During the next weeks, there won’t just be quite a lot of interesting sports coverages, but also concert reports. Thus, be tuned and have a look at the website.
The this week’s Songs of the Week are one of my favorite ones this year. So many great songs coming with very different genres, geographical backgrounds and emotions. I am sure there will be a couple of songs you like as well.
Sabien – Zaterdag
I recently ran more and more in music from the Netherlands. The Dutch music scene is so interesting and diverse – it is really a shame that you are not that much in touch with it here in Germany. One act which especially fascinated me is Sabien, a pop and Americana pop artist from Apeldoorn. This week, she released Zaterdag (“Saturday”) – a simply wonderful listen.
Benedikt – Waterfall
Former The Voice of Germany contestant Benedikt Köstler is nowadays simple releasing music as Benedikt. I really enjoy listening to his characteristic voice – and to his new song Waterfall, which comes with Americana and pop vibes. Very nice!
Take That ft. Michael Patrick Kelly – Feel My Love
This one is indeed a fascinating collaboration: the English pop legends recorded their Feel My Love with former The Kelly Family member Michael Patrick. The US–Irish artist born in Dublin is especially popular in Germany. The song is also teasing the next Take That album Dreamers and the European tour in 2027.
Kodaline – Vultures
In late 2026, the Irish alternative rockers Kodaline are touring Europe. Three of the five shows in Germany have already been sold out. You still need any reason for that? Just listen to the new single Vultures by the band from Dublin. You just have to enjoy its vibes.
Thorsteinn Einarsson – Bonfire
Born in Reykjavik, Iceland, living in Austria – I featured Thorsteinn Einarsson a couple of times in this series already. This week he released Bonfire. This pop track definitely makes me look forward to his new album Solstice even more. You have to wait until March 2027 for it, though.
Steve Vai & Joe Satriani – Mayhem
“Satchvai” is taking the next step. While Steve Vai and Joe Satriani have released a couple of singles together already, they announced their first collab album The Sea of Emotion this week. The album will be published on 6th November 2026. Mayhem is the feature single – a lovely piece of instrumental rock by the US American duo. After they toured Europe in 2025 and North America in 2026 – maybe there is a chance to see them again in 2027.
James Marriott – Burn Down The Disco
The press kit to Burn Down The Disco names James Marriott one of the most fascinating and unpredictable singer-songwriters of the United Kingdom. His new song Burn Down The Disco indeed features quite a blend of interesting, modern elements. On top of that, the chorus reveals his indie-rock heart.
Def Crüe – Meet Me in September
The Austrian rockers found the perfect release date for their new single. Meet Me in September has been released on the very last day of August 2026. However, I still love listening to this catching and hymnic song, even though the month is still running for a few days. Great one!
Europe – Scandinavian Eyes
Europe will always be in our hearts due to their 1986 song The Final Countdown. Surprisingly, the band is still playing in the line-up of the 1980’s. This week, they released the hymnic and theatrical Scandinavian Eyes. The truly impressing listen teases Come This Madness. The twelfth studio album by the hard rockers from Sweden will become available on 25th September 2026.
Overgrown – Lay Cold
I featured the nu metal band Overgrown in my 5th June 2026 Songs of the Week the first time. Now, the 2025-founded English quartet comes back with a new song: Lay Cold has a really intense energetic and good melodies. I really like it.
V.E.R.S.U.S. – Unser Lied
V.E.R.S.U.S. is a German rock band founded in Frankfurt in 2017. This week they share Unser Lied (“Our song”), a beautifully written love track, which stays in your mind.
Brings & Cat Ballou – Immer För Immer
Two of the key bands of my home town Cologne join forces this week: Cat Ballou and Brings release Immer För Immer (“Forever for Forever”). The song is a lovely, heartwarming ballad about home and feelings towards it.
Gregor McEwan – World No. 2
After a longer hiatus, Gregor McEwan is back with new songs. I still remember his December 2023 show in Cologne well. His new song rather touches indie-folk, though.
LORI – Schwanensee
Schwanensee (Swan Lake) is one of the most famous ballets, composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in the late 19th century. The Hanover-born artist Lori, who nowadays lives in Berlin, turned the main theme into the chorus of her new single release. The song fascinates me. I can’t really judge whether I like this classic and pop fusion or not – but I cannot deny that it stays in my mind.
Pedro Santos – Should Have Known Better
Last, but not least, there is Should Have Known Better. The energetic dance pop track by British-Portuguese artist Pedro Santos definitely comes with the right vibes to make you move. Santos is a former member of the boy band Here At Last.
