T.G. Copperfield (12th April 2025, Hagen aTW)

Gaststätte Stock again – some six months after I saw the Laura Evans show there in the lovely Teutoburger Wald venue, I headed up to Hagen (not the Ruhrgebiet one…) again. This time, I was keen to have my very first look at a German artist. I had really enjoyed my 2024 review of the album Steppenwolf by T.G. Copperfield. Now it was time to see him on stage. Here is my review of his show on 12th April 2025, which was part of his All In Your Head Tour.

Gaststätte Stock – About The Venue

Gaststätte Stock names himself the special pub at the roundabout in Hagen on their website. While the lower floor feels like a typical, cozy pub, the upper level with a major stage and two rooms, which can be combined to one large venue, already impressed me during the Laura Evans show. It leads to a maximum capacity of 500 people. There is public transport connection to Hagen am Teutoburger Wald, but I would definitely rather recommend going there by car. A special feature of the venue is that concerts are typically free entry – with the request to fill the tip bucket for the band and the crew. On that day, the owner of the club, Karl-Heinz Charly Niehenke celebrated his birthday, which lead to an especially cozy atmosphere.

T.G. Copperfield – About The Artist

T.G. Copperfield is an Americana rock artist from Regensburg in Bavaria. The German artist born on 17th December 1979 was initially part of a band, 3 Dayz Whizkey. The band released five studio albums. With the 2016 album T.G. Copperfield, Tilo Preißler, which is the artist’s civil name, turned solo. His discography already lists the quite impressing number of 13 studio album. In 2025, he released his most recent record, All In Your Head.

T.G. Copperfield – The Show

T.G. Copperfield‘s show was scheduled at 20:30 and started a few minutes later. Including a fifteen minute intermission, the evening lasted roughly two hours. The first part of the concert rather focused on blues rock. Overall, the German rocker featured a wide range of his career, including earlier releases. For example, his second song was Going Down Fighting of his 2016 self-titled album. The crowd did groove with the four guys on stage, even though they felt more active in the second have. Some other songs featured in the first roughly 50 minutes were Stars CollideBound To Pay The Price or El Cid, which also closed the first part of the show.

After a fifteen minute intermission, the concert felt more rocking and also more diverse in regards of the songs covered. T.G. Copperfield and his band mates came back with Back On The River. One of the highlights of the whole set. At They Put Out The Fire from his 2019 Magnolia album, the crowd cheered with the band. You Know Me Dead (2021, The Electric Band) was a perfect example for a very melodic rocker. The set closed with The Worried Man, followed by a three song encore.

T.G. Copperfield- My View

First of all, I have to say that I simply love the venue. Gaststätte Stock is a lovely place, the people there, including the audience, are extremely friendly and welcoming. Even though I struggled a bit with the light this time (and used that for some experimental photo editing), it was lovely to take that two hour drive again. A key factor for that was, of course, the show itself. T.G. Copperfield showed great blues rock in a very fluent show. The artist and his band were very energetic and obviously had a lot of fun on stage. Thus, the Teutoburger Wald had a lovely blues rock and Americana rock night in April 2025.
