Returning from a USA trip in early November 2023, I had a night in the city of Budapest. I was guessing that I would be rather exhausted for the trip. In addition, I wanted to complete my status at GHA Discovery, so that I finally ended up in one of the most prominent and poshest options (at least regarding the reputation), the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest. Let’s have a look inside together.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest – Location

It will be hard to state anything different but that the Kempinski has a great location in Budapest city. The Budapest Ferris Wheel is right in front of the hotel, the main shopping areas are close to it. You also have a lot of key attractions in easy walking distance.

Even in regards of public transport, the location is really nice: just a few steps away from the hotel entrance are the stairs down to the Deak Ferenc Ter metro station – this is where all three metro lines of Budapest meet. On top of that, it is the terminal of the express bus 100E, which offers you very frequent connections to Budapest Airport (BUD). The hotel is running a parking garage. There is also a rental car desk (Europcar) in the same building.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest – Atmosphere

From the very first moment, the Kempinski hotel made a great impression. The hotel feels luxurious, without being too posh or intrusive. The lobby as well as other areas of the hotel feel being very generous.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest- Room

I booked a Superior Room at the hotel. This is equivalent to the lowest room category. At a flexible rate, I paid 254.08 EUR, including all taxes. I have been very friendly welcomed as a platinum member of GHA Discovery and received a room upgrade as well as a complimentary late check-out until 15:00, which was very helpful for my plans in the Hungarian capital. They do have more modern rooms as well, but the room I received was already very spacious. I liked the design with the large bed and the very nice work desk, which you could use from both sides and thus also is a nice in room dining option. The design of the room might be a bit of traditional – but as I said, there are renovated options as well. A minor downside, though, is that there were power outlets only on one side of the bed.

The bathroom was lovely as well. There was a shower and a separate bathtub. Even though I liked the idea behind it, I was a bit of bothered by the automatically closing glass door at the toilet. However, I liked the wide range of the amenities provided. Like the whole room, the bathroom was very well maintained. The Deluxe room category is facing to the patio of the hotel. I personally liked that, but you might also like to pay a bit more for a nice city view.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest- Breakfast

My rate did not include breakfast. There are mainly three breakfast options (and an additional dining one). I went for their buffet. There is also an a la carte place as well as a deli-alike option, which serves you a quick sandwich and a coffee, for example. The buffet was 30 EUR and an absolutely great start of the day. The staff was very attentive. You might have seen larger selections of items in other buffets, maybe, but I really liked the quality of the food provided as well.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest- Service

The staff was really amazing and gave me a great stay. I also had no issue of working from the hotel, the WiFI worked very well. The hotel also offers a gym and spa area. I did not have a treatment, but the sauna and steam bath section is really nice. The pool is a bit of tiny and rather reminded me of North American hotel pools. It is also too small in case the hotel is fully booked and people go for a relaxing swim. The gym felt very nice, though.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest- My View

It’s been just one night, but I really loved staying at the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest. A great location, great staff and overall nicely managed place give you a good feeling. The price is high, but you get relaxation and luxury. The pool area could be a bit more generous, though.
