Flyctory.com Pros

  • Very personal and great storytelling
  • Very nice Americana style

Michael Moravek already made it into my Songs of the Week thrice. The last time has been as of 10th January 2025 with his Chickenman’s Blues. The song is part of his new album, Night Songs, which has been released on 24th January 2025. Here is my album review.

Michael Moravek – About The Artist

Michael Moravek is one of the very reputed Americana artists in Germany. He was originally born in Backi Petrovac in nowadays Serbia, close to Novi Sad, and moved to Germany at the age of 2. He his majorly know for touring with this band, the Electric Traveling Show, which is also co-releasing the album. In 2017, Moravek released his debut album In Transit (Is What We Are). Until now, there have been three additional albums, the last one being Dream as of 2023.

Michael Moravek – Night Songs – Track by Track

The eleven song album lasts 42 minutes.

1. Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind opens the album in a typical singer-songwriter style. The song is majorly driven by the acoustic guitar. There are, however, other instruments in the harmonica in it. The vocal style is calm and clearly focusing on the storytelling of the track. Listen and enjoy!

2. People Leave Their Lights On

People Leave Their Lights On is not just the first song which has been written of Night Songs, it is also one of the core tracks of it. There is some sort of heaviness and melancholy in the song, but also comes with a nice-to-listen to story.

3. Shiny Blue Hair

The following two tracks have been shared as single releases already. The first track Michael Moravek shared from his 2025 album is Shiny Blue Hair. The first thing which is striking is the joyful and rhythmic vibe of the song, even though it stays in the singer-songwriter setting. The gentle voice of the musician makes you listen to this nice one.

4. Chickenman’s Blues

As said above, I really liked the Chickenman’s Blues when I ran into it. Like many songs on Night Songs, it is a blend of folk and country music elements. The setting stays private and intimate, leading to a beautiful listen.

5. Hush

Hush reflects what on what matters and the world is falling apart, Moravek states in the press package to the album. Indeed, the song is slower, darker than the two songs before. Nonetheless, this 3:48 minute listen comes with a fascination and a good catch.

6. Kicking Stones

The sixth track spreads some more happy vibes. The song is describing watching a self-confident woman. Moravek states that it is a song about the beauty of freedom and independence in the press kit. A really nice and picturesque track, which again strikes with excellent songwriting and storytelling.

7. Dreams Seep Into The Earth

With Dreams Seep Into The Earth, Michael Moravek’s 2025 album goes for one of its emotional highlights. Days of laughter, days of laughter are praised in this song. A touching song with country ballad vibes.

8. One Day I Will Write A Gospel Song

One day I will write a gospel song, one that doesn’t make me feel so wrong are the opening words of the eighth track. The song is very personal, expressing the wish to change your own mood, but also the one of the listeners by its music. The song is not a gospel, but a really beautiful write about the desire and attitude of a songwriter.

9. Station of The Heart

Station of The Heart is a bit slower than the predecessor, but from its style nicely connects to it. However, the song is much more about love and thus another very emotional moment on Night Songs. I really like it.

10. Merry Ship of The Soul

The penultimate track of the album, Merry Ship of The Soul, is a very present listen, which also comes with a nice harmonica part. Again, it is rather the very personal and on-point storytelling of the German artist, which defines the lovely listening experience.

11. Carefree State

With final listen of Night Songs is also the longest song of the album. This is probably the most hopeful and positive song I’ve written, Moravek states. The song starts with a morning of singing bird, later describes how children are singing. You indeed feel the Carefree State while listening to these almost five minutes. The song is definitely one of the best songs of the album to me, also spreading a lot of optimism and energy.

Michael Moravek – Night Songs – My View

Night Songs is storytelling and songwriting at a lovely level. Towards the end of the album, Michael Moravek is also having some very energetic songs. Overall, the record is a set of very intense, but beautiful listens. I really like it!
