Flyctory.com Cons

  • Already feels like being slightly too small

Flying Eurowings in the A320neo from Cologne/Bonn (CGN) to Dubai World Central (DWC) did not only give me my first-ever flights to the newer Dubai airport. The BizClass ticket also gave my wife and I access to the Marhaba Lounge there. My thoughts about its sister lounge at Dubai International (DXB), Terminal 1 are rather mixed, so I was really looking forward to this experience. Here is my lounge review.

Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central – Location & Access

The Marhaba Lounge is located right after the security check and the first duty free stores. You can either use stairs, an escalator or the elevator to the upper level. Next to the lounge, there is a McDonald’s and a Costa Coffee. Furthermore, there was an additional restaurant, which was closed during my visit in early January 2024.

The lounge is officially opening 24 hours a day. I could imagine that it also depends on the flight activity. They are contracted with all major airlines operating from Dubai Al Makhtoom Airport (DWC). Additionally, Marhaba accepts major lounge passes. You can also buy in for roughly 50 EUR for two hours.

Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central – Atmosphere

The lounge is more or less a room with a few dividers. There is no big difference in the seats provided, typically one, two or four seats with a table in the middle. The round tables are higher and thus more suitable for working. A separate area in the rear features more cosy seats and also a one person smokers cabin. Power outlets are rare. A few exist on the walls, some of them are taken by lights, though. Overall, the atmosphere is fine. When we entered the lounge, it felt quite packed, due to a few flights departing to Russia. Later, the atmosphere was very relaxed.

Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central – Food & Drink

The food and drink buffet is located in one corner of the lounge. During my stay, there were some European and Indian dishes as well as soup on the warm side. Additionally, the Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central (DWC) features a nice selection of salad and fruit, sweets and sandwiches. Soft drinks and beer are in a cooler and there is a limited selection of spirits as well.

Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central – Services

The staff was friendly and the service was attentive. WiFi is provided by the airport. The lounge also offers a dedicated bathroom, but now showers. There is one flight information screen, but no announcement.

Marhaba Lounge Dubai World Central – My View

The Marhaba Lounge at Dubai World Central (DWC) is a fine place to hang out. There are not too many alternatives at the airport, so that I really appreciated the service. Nonetheless, it is not overwhelmingly posh, the food is slightly better than I expected. As soon as DWC will be operating with a higher flight frequency, though, it might very quickly become too small.
