Like at most Spanish airports, the lounges are driven by the Spanish Aviation authority AENA. During my September 2025 trip to Mallorca, I was short-notice rebooked to a flight from Palma (PMI) with Discover in their A330 and thus ran into the VIP Lounge Mediterraneo at the C Gates of the airport. Here is my lounge review.

VIP Lounge Mediterraneo – Location & Access

The lounge is located at the very rear of the C-Gate area, which is part of the Schengen flight area. There are signs throughout the terminal area, you finally find the entrance behind the McDonalds restaurants at C Gates.

The lounge is contracted with all airlines offering lounge services from Palma (there are only AENA Lounges at the airport, one for each gate area). I was expecting to use the Formentor Lounge at the D Gates, but as my flight left at C, I also had access to the corresponding lounge. The lounge also accepts all major lounge passes. The buy-in at my visit was 46 EUR. Opening times of the Mediterraneo Lounge is 5:00 to midnight. In summer, you can enter the lounge three hours before scheduled departure, while tit is a four hour period in the lower season.

VIP Lounge Mediterraneo – Atmosphere

The sheer size of the lounge illustrates how much air traffic there is from Mallorca, especially during summer months. The lounge is huge, featuring a nice range of different sections. During my stay, there were sufficiently free seats, but I guess that the situation is more challenging in peak times. While the front of the lounge feels more stylish and comfortable, the bistro-style rear does have a better chance to make use of some of the power outlets. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a snap of one of these bistro tables blocking an emergency exit, which is, of course, a critical issue. Overall, the lounge feels very inviting and welcoming.

VIP Lounge Mediterraneo – Food & Drink

The buffet at the VIP Lounge Mediterraneo is located rather in the center of the lounge. My stay started with the breakfast service. I felt the lounge did a really nice range of fruity, savory and other items. In general, there is a bit of a local touch in the food options provided, which I appreciate. The buffets are quite large, there are three fridges for beer and soft drinks as well, so that that the atmosphere is really relaxed.

Lunch service felt even better. From warm local snacks to a hot dog station and a chicken curry – there was indeed a nice range of items. The salad section was also rather nice. I also rarely saw that lounges provide a table grill so that you can heat up your sandwiches. Overall, the food provided was one of the best I ever had in a Spanish lounge.

VIP Lounge Mediterraneo – Services

The staff was friendly. While maintaining the buffets worked very well, they did not keep up with cleaning the tables – despite the lounge was not that full during my visit. WiFi is provided by AENA. The login is always a bit of messy in my point of view. Finally, it worked out very well for me, though.

VIP Lounge Mediterraneo – My View

AENA does a really nice job in this lounge at Palma (PMI). The lounge is large and offers a nice range of different seating options. While the buffet definitely exceeded my expectations, there were some issues on the service side. The blocked emergency exit leads to an additional, but very unnecessary downgrade and makes the lounge miss the Top Pick! ratings.
